Usagi Yojimbo DojoBoard

I can't access the DojoBoard using Safari but I was able to get here using Firefox. Although, I do get the same "maintenance" message using Firefox if I click the Board index link. It's been like this for a day or two.

Hmmm. My experience is different. I've been accessing it via safari (13.0.5) on MacOS (10.15.3) and iOS (13.3.1) the last couple of days with no problems.


Using Safari on MacOS to post this message now at 2:11 pm.

The maintenance that Todd is doing is the moving of the forum to a separate domain to prevent the frequent access denied problems. Hopefully the move will be relatively quick and painless.

I can access all parts of the forum, but I do get the same message when I click on "Board Index"

I still can't get on the DojoBoard when I'm using Safari on my iMac. It might be time to join Facebook. I hear there's a cool fan page over there.

Then when I click on Usagi Yojimbo Dojo: America I get the message below.

Since I never navigate to the forum from the link at usagiyojimbo.com, I don't ever have that problem. But I was able to reproduce the issue on my Macbook using Safari and Chrome, as well as on my Android phone using Chrome. I think the issue is with the very specific, top level address ("http://www.usagiyojimbo.com/forum3/index.php"), as that's the page for both the link from usagiyojimbo.com as well as if you click on "Board Index" when already on the forum.

The sub-level address for "Usagi Yojimbo DojoBoard" (http://usagiyojimbo.com/forum3/viewforum.php?f=10) works and is what autofills when I start typing in the address on my devices, so I never use the broken top level address that leads to "Board Index". As long as you avoid the top level address, the forum works fine and should tide you over until the issue gets resolved.

Unfortunately, the most recent access denied issue for the past month or so has been for logging into the administrative side of the forum, the place where issues like Rany's recent problem are usually fixed.

This is still an issue. I know Todd was asking for help on Facebook (at least I think it was Facebook), but I'm guessing he wasn't able to find any help yet. That's too bad.

I wonder if this problem will ever get fixed? I know forums are a dying breed, but I think there are still a fair number of people that do and would use the forum. We might even see an increase if it worked properly. I think new people might be getting discouraged from using the forum if they keep getting that "down for maintenance" prompt.

I like the instant aspect of Facebook, and have fun participating on the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo and Usagi Yojimbo! But this is home.

Anyways, I wish I was more technically adept, but I'm not.... so I sure can't help.

I prefer this forum over the Facebook page any day but times they are a-changin.

The one thing I don't like about this forum is that it says 'NOT SECURE' every time I log in.

The DojoBoard is like a well established ramen shop, while Facebook is like a flea market.
