Id say go for it mayhem, one step closer to your set and you hardly see these books pop up. better to have it than regret missing your opportunity.

Her one bad feedback was an auction posted by the ebay scavenger Comic Monster, and I was surprised that she did not leave a negative feedback against him. Can a seller have negative feedback removed if it is posted by a buyer if payment was never made?

I still want to believe that she (as an obvious Usagi fan) decided she did not want to do business with such a lowlife as Comic Monster.

She could just be waiting for payday before sending payment, since not everyone believes in credit debt.

Despite my paranoid doubts I'd say the same; especially since one potent competitor for that book would be out of the race, which would highly increase my chances for the next auction (whenever that may be.... :? ).

Before the recent changes to feedback, if the seller went through the proper NPB procedures and the buyer never took part in the discussion, then yes negative feedback from the buyer against the seller could be removed. Not sure about now though.

eBay rules state that a NPB report cannot be filed until 20 days after the item is won. So technically a buyer has 3 weeks to pay the seller. Most sellers on the other hand get very twitchy and annoyed if the buyer knows the total cost (as Julia would have here) and haven't coughed up the money within a week...

The seller btw is also giving me free shipping so that cuts the cost a little. Anyhows, I'm paying via Paypal and with a confirmed address, so I should be fairly well covered if something happens...

Haha I wouldn't guarantee that. I still need HC #3 as well (along with HC #1). But no way I pay $500 for it. It is, however, the first one I have seen on ebay in a looooong time.

Happy bidding!
Thomas Froehling wrote:Well, I'm an optimist: I guess the HC will turn up tomorrow, with Mayhem not being able to bid (due to accumulated expenses) and Juliab488 satisfied with her copy....leaving me the sole bidder on that auction...

Ok, ok, but a man can dream, can he not?

Hello everyone,
I got an invitation from usagigaijin for the dojoboard and figured I should set things straight. I went to pay for HC 3 through paypal but had to reset my password and when I logged back in I was no longer verified. As a result I couldn't check out since I had exceeded my sending limit. I was waiting for the paypal deposits to post so that I could verify and pay for the book when I got the email from the seller that he was selling it to someone else, without having talked to me. I'm investigating what my recourse against the seller is in this case. I could just be sol. I'm assuming from the other posts that you got the book Mayhem. I don't think the seller handled this very well and I'm sorry if you still had to pay over $500 for it. However, congrats on adding it to your collection. Hopefully another one will come up soon. I just wanted everyone to know what happened. This seems like a great site, I can't wait to look around. Thanks for the invite usagigaijin.

Hi Julia... I'm glad you came here and posted an official version of events, without leaving us to speculate. As you can see via the earlier discussion, we were rather confused why I was offered the book a mere three days after the auction ended. I'll admit given the speed of second chance offer I had thought things had fallen through, whereas it appears my later supposition about the seller getting impatient was actually true.

I'll agree he could have handled it better, and waited longer. As an occasional seller myself I have even waited for someone to set up a Paypal account after winning an item so they could pay me. As long as I get the money eventually... I'm a fairly patient person! I don't think there is any recourse through eBay, as soon as he made the SCO to me, all ties and binding contract to yourself were dissolved afaik. So you can't leave feedback either etc.

I've been actively searching for the h/c editions for 2-3 years now and this is the first time I've seen #3 offered, which is why I was prepared to pay as much as I bid. The only h/c I now need is #12, Grasscutter. Yeah... the one that does tend to go for high prices.

I've haven't received the book yet btw, but as I only paid for it six days ago then it should turn up next week. Unless Customs get their hands on it, then it will another week on top

Welcome to the Dojo juliab488;

I feel a little guilty about even thinking about a conspiracy regarding the unhappy events around UY HC 3; as I said, I may be a little paranoid (might have something to do with my first name; I was always called the doubting Thomas even back at school  ).

Nevertheless, it's good to have you here, straightening that discussion.

And, yes, I think you'll find the Dojo a good place for information, entertainment, and occassional finding-a-helping-hand around Usagi Yojimbo.
Greetings from overseas
