Maybe to be projected onto a screen as it was being drawn? Sounds like something that was created either for or during a presentation.

I think it was drawn on tracing vellum, which is a high-quality tracing paper. This was drawn for a possible statue in the line of Dark Horse's Usagi and Katsuichi/Jotaro figures. This is one of the back views.
