Whimsical is a good word, and a good description.

I like the rabbit wearing the Usagi mask

I also wonder what all the comments in Japanese say.

They are all wonderful drawings. I always like to see other artists' interpretations of Usagi--one of the reasons I really like those Dutch editions which feature flip covers by Belgian artists.

This was done by Robert Barnes who is a sculptor and artist in the movie industry and has been one of my good friends for many years. Robert has worked on films such as Star Wars, John Carter of Mars and Charlotte's Webb. Robert is currently working on his website but you can check out his sculptures and art in the Star Wars "art" of books.

This piece was done using photoshop.

Three days and I still can't think of any words to do this piece of fan art justice. Fantastic? Exceptional? Reminds me a bit of Amy's work.

Let me know if you ever decide you want to get rid of it. :D

Lol, well, the lines are similar - strong with a lot of cool tones. (though I seem to be preferring thin lines and warm colors lately...)

Anyway, these are very neat! It's fun hearing the history behind the pieces too^_^

This next piece of art was done by another good buddy of mine, Marc Gabbana, a brilliant artist. Marc has been a great mentor and friend and is one of the fastest and best artist I know. He can do anything from concept design, costumes, hardware, architecture and storyboards to finished illustrations. You name it, he can do it. Besides working in advertising for many years and being published in various books and magazines he has also worked on major blockbuster films such as Star Wars 1 & 2, Matrix 2 & 3 and too many others to name. You can check out his website here.

http://www.marcgabbana.com/

It's being redone right now but you can get a hint of what he's capable of. The artwork currently up are personal illustrations and he will be updating it with his concept art from films he worked on.

Marc totally went out of his way to do this for me. It's a pretty awesome piece and I love Marc's colors and graphic style.

This piece was done with gouache (an opaque watercolor) on illustration board and took him about 5 hours to paint. This piece is about 8.5x11 inches. Marc is currently doing 5 more pieces like this for me of Kitsune, Tomoe, Gen, Jotaro and Katsuichi. I will post those once he's done.

Another cool picture!

Kind of says "Don't mess with the rabbit when he's drinkin' his sake!"

It would be interesting to see a more traditional one by Marc without the big gun. :D
