Letters from Iwo Jima

We just watched this movie and I thought it was a powerful movie. It showed the humanity of the individuals in the midst of a war who more than any thing just want to make it home alive to see their families.

I won't say anymore other than to say I highly recommend it.

Have you seen Flags of our Fathers?
Clint Eastwood was a genius to film these two movies / points of view at the same time.
Has this ever been done before?
I watched Flags first and when you could here the distant grenades going off i thought, i know we will find out about the grenades in the other movie.
Brilliant.
Not for kids.
I loved the message of we are all someone's children and all had mothers.
Also nice insight on how the government uses heroes.

Yes, I thought the same thing about similar scenes. Also, when the ships are crossing and the boats are landing in this movie -- I swear some of them are the exact same scenes. Different points of view of the same battle.

I've been really wanting to see both films-- Letters from Iwo Jima even moreso. I'm curious to see what exactly it was like from the other side's point of view.

I liked both movies a lot too. I would recommend them to people interested in WWII movies. Needless to say, both are a bit on the violent side (Letters From Iwo Jima a litte more so), but I never found the violence in it to be gratuitious.

I've liked Clint Eastwood's last few movies as a director a lot. I look forward to whatever he's doing next.
