First trailer for SPEED RACER (2008)

Post by Jet_Jaguar »

What do you guys think of this trailer for the Wachowski's live-action Speed Racer movie? I think it might be a fun movie. It certainly looks colorful, and it seems to have a somewhat anime sensibility.

Why does the Mach 5 have a "6" on it?

Thanks for posting! Awesome! I saw a "5" on the Mach 5 myself, but then later in the trailer it was a "6" in many scenes. I captured these frames myself...the Mach 6 appears slightly different than the 5...maybe he gets a better car in the movie.

Unfortunately, the early word on this movie doesn't seem to be so good. If most of the reviews I've read so far could be summed up with a sound effect, it would probably be this:

I just saw it and it was unbelievable. Truly one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a while. Go see it for yourself, you won't be disappointed. :D

I agree. It was a fun and entertaining movie and suitable for the whole family. I had a blast with it!

I saw the trailer for the movie when I went to see my beloved Jodie Foster in Nim's Island.

Frankly the trailer was enough to sour me on the film. The whole thing looked like an epileptic fit waiting to happen.

I didn't much care for the original cartoon and I'm not all that enthused about dropping money on a live action film.

I may have to pass on this one, looking at the reviews and hearing negatives from other friends who have seen it.

I saw Speed Racer a couple of days ago, and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. It's probably not for everyone, to say the least, but I really think the reviewers are being way too harsh with this one. I doubt that it will win many Oscars, and it's probably about 10-20 minutes too long but it's good, silly fun.

I was a little bit surprised to see a PG movie get away with multiple uses of a word that the board won't display (it's a synonym for "donkey") and Spritle giving the finger to the main bad guy. Then again, I'm amazed that Raiders of the Lost Ark and the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers are PG movies.
