My SDCC plans

Post by Maka »

Hello UYDers:

Here's the finalized plans for SDCC. Hope to see some of you there!

Wednesday: My family and I are going to the SD Wild Animal Park during the day. After 6:00 p.m. we will pick up our badges and check out the scene.

Thursday: My family and the Garcias are going to the SD Zoo while I spend the whole day at the con. Only two panels I plan to attend:

1:00-2:00 Spotlight on Kevin Eastman— TMNt Room 5AB

2:30-3:30 Sergio and Mark— They're back! Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier reunite for their yearly discussion on all things Groo and beyond. Joining them are their Groo-horts Stan Sakai and Tom Luth. Room 8

The rest of the time I'm just going to check out the scene and maybe donate blood.

Friday: Since my family and the Garcia's family will be together this day we are planning to follow the kids around. The only panel we are going to try to make is:

12:45 - 2:15 Disney: Animation Panel -Walt Disney Pictures, Disney... Read More•Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios present a director panel with previously unseen footage from its upcoming animated slate, including Toy Story & Toy Story 2 – Double Feature, Beauty And The Beast, Toy Story 3, Prep & Landing, The Princess and the Frog and Ponyo. Special guests include Lee Unkrich, Kirk Wise, Ron Clements, John Musker, and Hayao Miyazaki. John Lasseter hosts the panel, with Patton Oswalt moderating. Hall H

Saturday: We have to check out of our condo at 11:00 a.m. We are visiting Cheryl's college friend Jen. We will check into our other hotel after dinner. No SDCC this day.

Sunday: It's kids day. Usagi Yojimbo 25th panel is the main event (12:30 - 1:30 p.m, room 8). But we might try to make it to David Peterson's panel (11:30 - 12:30, room 8) since it's right before and in the same room. There is the kids film festival and Kid's Write (2-3 p.m. room 30CDE) where kids tell the story and professionals draw the story they tell.

That should wrap it up. Hope to see you there. I'm the middle aged Asian guy wearing the Usagi Yojimbo t-shirt.

Peace, maka

I was at both the panels you were at today Maka, guess I should have looked around for you. A proper introduction will have to wait until Sunday I guess, I'll be at both Peter's and Stan's panels...

Sorry I missed you, Mayhem. I'm a little overwhelmed with the crowds and wasn't thinking of meeting people. I decided not to go to Peter's TMNT panel today. I just given blood and the line was so long. So I sat down and ate my sack lunch (one of the benefits of renting a place with a kitchen).

Here's brief sum of what I did today:

Gave blood
Visited Eric Shanower (OZ books). Picked up a collection for my younger daughter. Wonderful.
Went to the Groo panel. Stan and Sergio joked about Stan eating rabbit on one of there trips. Cool panel. Makes me want to read more groo.
Visited David Petersen. Picked up Winter 1152 and sketchbook.
Visited Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese) and Derek Kirk Kim (Same Difference and other stories). Picked up The Eternal Smile, secret Identities
Visited the turtles artist. Bought TMNT collected book volume one.
Visited Stan's booth and picked up bridge of tears Tpb (the hard covers were sold out). The action figures are amazing.
Waited in the longest line to get my preordered comic-con 40 years book.

It was a good, long day. Tomorrow we bring the kids, so I don't think we will last that long.

Look forward to meeting people on Sunday at the panel. Peace, maka

I'd like to see those whenever you get a chance to post them.

Yeah, there were only three h/c of #23 left when I got there on preview night, and I took two of them (one for me, one for Thomas). I don't know how many Stan had received in total, I forgot to ask.

I had brought 10 HCs, and they are all gone. I do have copies of many of the other volumes, including the hard-to-find Book 22.

My Comic-Con plans are like this....

One day: Try to figure out why the Earth tapers around Colorado?
Next day: Contemplate if California is actually real or just a photoshopped illusion to mess with me on a daily basis?
Another day: Worry about my post-traumatic stress disorder and my numerous flashbacks that I can't ever seem to shut off completely.
Then yet, another day: Thinking that Comic-Con is actually fake and that it don't really exist.
Another day: Watching public television or seeing my ever growing collection of belly-button lint!

Yep, think those are my plans!
