This is probably a long shot.
I recently wrote a very thoughtful e-mail to Boom! studios about the direction of their Disney titles. The head of marketing was so impressed that he wrote me back and later called, hoping to chat about my ideas on the phone. I'm still in awe about this. I've been trying to return his calls but have not reached him yet.
The thing is, in addition to having ideas that I'd like them to consider, I have a concept for a new Disney title starring Feathery Duck / Red Bat. Personally, I'd like to write it, and I know that they don't actually have any staff that writes their Disney titles. They translate foreign stories and do not currently produce original material for their Disney stuff.
So, how do I broach this subject with the marketing director, and should I? Do I have a shot at this? What should I say, and what shouldn't I say? I'm a solid writer who knows comics well, but I have absolutely no writing credits, and I've never written a professional comic script before. I'm not looking to make any money. I've just always wanted to write for comics.
Should I pursue this and, if so, how?
