The Shaolin Temple

Post by BuckRogers »

Since this doesn't really fit anywhere else as it is a Chinese movie I thought that I would put it in here.

The 1982 movie "The Shaolin Temple" and its 1984 sequel "Kids of Shaolin" are streaming on Netflix right now. "Temple" is Jet Li's first credited movie and considered on of the best kung fu movies ever made.

It is a bit hokey but it is as classic and awesome as the older kung fu movies get!

Well worth the hour and a half if you like martial arts at all!

Ooh, good to know. I've never seen either film. I've seen some of Li's 90s films, all the Once Upon a Time in China films, I really enjoyed Fist of Legend.

My favorite Li film is Hero, wonderful story structure, great drama and action, and an amazing soundtrack. When it was first released, my wife and I went to see it at a local theater. After selling us our tickets, the girl behind the counter looked at us and asked quietly, "You do know that it's sub-titled, right?" I answered with a smile, "Yes we do, not a problem."

Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan was also quite good and fun too.

Just back form a week of not internet and seeing this post.

My family and I REALLY love Jackie Chan. He is just so talented and funny. Jet Li is also so great with his amazing skill. I love old kung fu movies and this one was really worth watching, in my opinion.

Hope you've had a chance to watch it!
