Finally got one of the commissions/prizes done! Here is johnsonk513's Lone Goat and Kid. I had a lot of fun doing this, as it was the first time I had ever done a full drawing with my vintage flex fountain pen I bought a while back. I also enjoyed having the chance to try and emulate Goseki Kojima's inking techniques with a light warm grey Copic marker. I have but 2 issues from the First series of Lone Wolf and Cub, but hopefully I will eventually be able to read the whole series, there are just so many volumes. I had never really studied his art before, but I really appreciate the nuances and technique of his pen and brush.

Randy,
It looks absolutely phenomenal and you should be super proud of it. I hope Master Sakai checks it out, I think he will love it too.

That is just totally awesome!

Being a big fan of both Usagi Yojimbo and Lone Wolf & Cub, I am totally envious of johnsonk513 over this!

Please, please submit a digital copy of this to Stan in hopes of it being printed in an issue of Usagi Yojimbo.....

Very nice work, Randy. :) Looks like a pretty good imitation of brush and ink. I've tried working with markers myself, but I couldn't get near that level of subtlety.

Dear Randy,

The art in your school newspaper is great. Nice banckgrounds to complement the bear and other animals. Wonderful. And thanks for the wonderful winning art. I love the one you made me and all the others too. This has to be the most labor intensive (no offense, Kyle ;)) prize for trivia contest yet. Considering you made the contest and the prizes is quite a gift. Thank you so much! Beautiful! Peace, maka

It's been a while since I have updated this page, so I believe it is time for a massive update.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-umMm ... sp=sharing

First is a white-board sketch of Prince Valiant (and myself) I did during a study hall.

These are the highlights of a project I did for Latin class.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-umMm ... sp=sharing

Some of my school newspaper comics.

Some more Prince Valiant.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-umMm ... sp=sharing

Who doesn't love He-Man?

And finally....

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-umMm ... sp=sharing
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-umMm ... sp=sharing

This project was important for me, as it was the first time I ever brought a portfolio that contained only cartooning in it to a convention. It was also the first time I felt like my mind was really free when drawing.

Anyway, thank you for looking, and I hope you saw some improvement. I have been studying a lot of different artists from all around the world, particularly the Marcinelle School, which had members including Moebius, Jije, Franquin, Morris, Peyo, Roba etc. I have found several publishing opportunities that I will work for this summer, and if anything were to take off, I would let y'all know first!

Thank you again!
Have a blessed day,
Randy Clute

I got sidetracked over the winter and haven't got a frame yet for the prize you did for me a while back but I will be getting one soon, thanks again for the great piece
