Some of you may remember my mammoth master's thesis on "Comics in the Classroom". One of my advisors suggested I submit a proposal to present on the topic at the National Conference for Teachers of English. I did and they accepted my proposal, so I'll present at the conference a-- preaching the gospel of using comics to teach.
An art teacher giving ideas to English teachers? Who'da thunk it?!

Wonderful!
Don't forget to mention that Usagi has won an American Library Association Award, a bunch of YALSA (Young Adult Library Services) Awards, and has been used in the classroom.

I intended to use Usagi in my 7th grade English classroom this year to teach plot structure, but the permission to copy came a bit late for the unit. I plan to try it again next year, and will definitely let you know how it goes!

I always try to put a plug in for Usagi, Bone and the other books I consider the best for schools. I also love the new Babysitters Club graphic novels for that.
