This artist gave a talk at our school. It was amazing!

The night before, we were lucky enough to have him and his wife for dinner. He made a color sketch of me, and toured the Eclectic Comics "studios" (my drawing table in the basement/laundry room).

Definitely one of the high points of my career as a teacher.

That's awesome! James Gurney is an amazing artist. I got to see several of his illustrations on display at the Norman Rockwell museum several years ago.

We were talking about you. Were your ears burning? I told him about the dojo, we talked pens, and he saw the sketch I have you did in my classroom.

He gave an awesome presentation to our school. It showed his working processes, inspirations, and included a drawing demo and even a magic trick!

He drew on an easel that had a lazy susan attached. When you turned the drawing, it became something else. He got the idea from an old book of vaudeville acts. I guess drawings used to be part of the shows.
