Memorial Day weekend!!!!

Post by Gallennon »

So what is everyone doing this weekend? I myself am working, building and delivering props for the Play about to go up that i am Prop master to, and heading to two different parties this weekend for friends who are both celebrating their birthdays. First wild Memorial weekend that I have had in a long while.

Nothing terribly exciting for me. I don't have much planned beyond walking the dog, reading some Joe R. Lansdale books I checked out of the library (if you want a good introduction to his work, the recently-published story collection Sanctified and Chicken-Fried is a good place to start), and maybe watching a movie or two on DVD (my current Netflix rental is the Swedish film Let The Right One In, which I've heard good things about).

I got some drawing paper for a discount over the weekend. I plan to draw some more for Serial Killer Magazine. Cause I already have the Ninja High School Yearbook stuff out of the way, te he he!

And I also plan to eat an entire large pizza for myself, cause I don't want to share it with anyone! LOL!

:D

I watched it last night, and I liked it quite a bit. I might watch it again before I send it back to Netflix. I'm not sure that I'm quite ready to call it "Best Vampire Movie ever" (I might still rank it behind Murnau's Nosferatu and Guillermo Del Toro's Cronos), but I think that it's in the running. I liked how it played around with one particular piece of vampire lore, the idea that a vampire can't enter any house that he (or she in this case) hasn't been invited into (that seems to be what the title alludes to).

I'm dreading the U.S. remake that we're supposed to get sometime soon. I thought that the original had a great sort of chilliness to it that I can't imagine a remake getting right at all.
