I don't know if any of you guys remember....

You guys are the only folks whom I told I was putting together a story. Stan was kind enough to send me paper (at witch I still have!- because I finally can use it!!!!) - I know its been forever, but I think I have finally got a perfect ending to the story, to top it off....the ending is based off a real event- that just happened, about a week ago.

A friend of mine, John Keane, who is also a fellow artist, herd about my life story, and asked me to put it into words. I had to add in some fictitious stuff to make it more appealing, but the over all concept is fact. It actually has taken me 3 years to complete this story, and I must say, the story compared to then and now- is much nicer. I’m glad I took the time to get my ideas down.

I just have to ask....would anyone even consider to read a story based on a religious concept? John had said to change it. Because it is based primarily off the Catholic Church….

I just thought to ask you guys before doing anything else. I don’t have it completely written on the computer, but I do have drawings….

I just need some hard based structure on if this would be something that would impress the readers, just based on the subject.

Hello Usagi,

I would read your story. If the general public would depend on your storytelling skills. Everyone has different taste when it comes subject matter. What story do you want to tell?

Peace, maka

Well, it’s funny, the story came out from John asking me why I was converting to Catholicism (Him being born and raised Catholic- he is not a follower of the church)

I basically told him why, but then he just wanted more and more detail, until the conversation turned into some kind of conversation you would have with a shrink. He then perused to say “Patricia, that would make a really good story. ”-

It’s a story of my journey from searching for God, to finding him…and perusing one of two lifestyles but I wont give away the ending because it’s a good one lol-

During this time, I had to put it on hold, because I wanted to see were my life would go from a year ago- Even though, I am still having some personal inner battles, I think were I am at in life right now is were I am mint to be.

John Suggested to change it from the Catholic Church to some tribe, or animal clan, but I just don’t know about that…I would have to really dig into research on trying to symbolize certain things, but I’m also not ashamed to say “Yes”….I went from nothing to “This” faith….but The Story does not downgrade any religion, or make the church look better…(I would not want that type of stuff in the story)- its all just from personal and childhood experiences….The Church is just there.

I'd be interested in reading it through as well Trish :)

(oh and welcome back again btw!)

As an atheist, I can guarantee no bias on my part when it comes to any comments, suggestions or notes I would make heh... and I've been proofing a couple of other friend's stories recently too, so I guess I'm a little "in the groove" for that sort of thing...

Actually, I find the idea of putting one's life (or part of it) down in words and/or comic form quite appealing; There are several semi-autobiographic comics in my collection, and it's always interesting to have a look at other people's life, IMHO.

So, I'd love to read your story, too, though I think I wouldn't be the best to proof read it...

This is just one of those things, were if i had a partner helping me with this, The idea of more symbleism would be nice....but it's just me haha

You should publish it via lulu.com or similar site. Even if you offered a free pdf version, you could also offer a commercial one for modest printing price or "at cost". Sounds like something I'd gander at. I don't think you should feel awkward about expressing yourself, regardless of content.
