Dear Readers,
Richard Watson and I wished for a 3d holographic chess set back in 1971.
Looks like the technology is just about ready!

I am looking forward to Usagi Yojimbo's adventures in 3d.
Best wishes to all!

I want a real-life version of that weird chess game that R2D2 and C3PO play against Chewbacca in Star Wars.

3d chess

Dear Readers,
By 3d chess i mean the board is 8 squares by 8 squares by 8 squares.
We built one but it was impossible to make the queen, etc. move through the board levels. Knights, bishops, etc. could make moves in any 3d direction.
Checkmate would be very difficult.
Best wishes to all!

ps.
The first Star Trek show had Spock playing on a 3 level board.

Oh, I didn't really understand what you meant by "3D" chess. I'm not even any good at regular 2D chess (I can't even beat the computer in the chess game that comes with Ubuntu Linux), so I find the idea of 3D chess a little mind-boggling.
