Sergio to join Simpsons Comics!
I haven't kept up with the Simpsons comics in a long time (but I did pick up the Free Comic Book Day issue, and I still have a pretty big stack of Simpsons comics), but if Sergio is going to be working on them, I definitely need to give them another look.

I wonder if there's any chance of Stan doing another Simpsons story.

As soon as it was announced that Mad magazine was cutting down its frequency, Bill Morrison called Sergio and invited him to join the Bongo crew. Sergio will have a regular Maggie feature, and will be doing a special all-Sergio issue.
No story planned for me, but I did a pin-up for their Simpsons/Futurama crossover collection, along with a bunch of other Simpson fans/artists.

I read awhile ago that they were releasing a hardcover collection of the Simpsons/Futurama crossover stories:
http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/11097.html
Could the pinups be featured in there?
Bongo Comics still doesn't have an official website yet to see if there's a release date on this collection...

A quick Amazon search brought up this pre-order page:
http://www.amazon.com/Simpsons-Futurama ... 656&sr=8-1
Great to see it's still coming out! Awesome!

Hmm... how to best express myself in signature form?
Well, I'm back. I need to get back into the series, been so long since I read volume 7.

I almost forgot about this. I'll have to look for it when I go to the one comic book store in my town tomorrow to buy Groo: Hogs of Horder #1. It's not a great store, but at least they're pretty reliable about getting new Groo (with Usagi Yojimbo, not so much. I have to order new UY issues from TFAW most of the time).
Speaking of Sergio and The Simpsons, Mark Evanier posted this on his blog recently:

Wouldn't it be awesome to get a piece of mail from Sergio with a little doodle on the envelope like that?
My three favorite comic book artists are Stan Sakai, Sergio Aragones, and Osamu Tezuka. I'm really grateful that the first two are still creating new works.

Well, since one of the big themes in Phoenix was reincarnation, I suppose you may have a point there.
Of course, whenever I get a new Black Jack volume with stories I've never read before, it feels like new work.
UPDATE: It looks like Dr. Tezuka may have already reincarnated:

Sergio's got 2 books for Bongo in February:
SIMPSONS COMICS #163

Written and art by Sergio Aragones.
Beloved cartoonist Sergio Aragones writes, draws, and provides the cover for his first full-length Simpsons Comics issue. Springfield is on the brink of a nuclear meltdown (what else is new?) and Homer must do everything in his power to save the plant, the town, and his family from what is basically all his fault! Brace yourself for some serious silliness in "No Cause for Alarm!"
32 pages, $2.99.
BART SIMPSON COMICS #52

Written and art by Sergio Aragones, Gilbert Hernandez, Carol Lay and Chris Yambar.
Bart Simpson gets the "indie" spirit when comic creators Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets), Carol Lay (Now Endsville), and Chris Yambar (Mr. Beat) lend their unique talents to tales about "The Boy."
Also, enjoy more of Sergio Aragones' regular feature "Maggie's Crib."
32 pages, $2.99
-------------------------------------------------------
I hope they give him a Futurama issue to take over next...

I have a friend who would flip when he sees these pics. He is a total Tezuka nut. He even built a character sheet for Tezuka based on all his cameos in his comics which is used at the anime convention LARP I attend every fall.Jet_Jaguar wrote:Well, since one of the big themes in Phoenix was reincarnation, I suppose you may have a point there.Of course, whenever I get a new Black Jack volume with stories I've never read before, it feels like new work.

As for Black Jack, aside form the first volume viz released, I did not read much Black Jack, or any Tezuka. So the new Vertical releases are awesome to read for me! I want to get MW and the rest of Buddha!

I'm one of those "among others". At least I did a pin-up for it. I haven't seen the book yet.VikingSpawn wrote:
