I didn't know that Sergio did woodworking or ceramics or any of that other stuff. I'd love to see this exhibit, but unfortunately, I don't get out to California that often.
What's the thing on his wall to the left of the Tick mask? It looks sort of like a manga character, like maybe one of Osamu Tezuka's characters, but I can't quite identify it.

Someone on the Groop posted a link to this Flickr set with pictures of the exhibition:

Hello Usagi Yojimbo Dojo,
Here are some pictures from this afternoon:
http://web.me.com/cmtakahara/Makablog/S ... gones.html
The Groop pictures the Jet linked to are better as I just used my camera phone.
I had try to take the kids a couple of weeks ago but there was a fire on the 150 hwy, so I was turned back. This weekend we went to LA for Cheryl's roommate from freshmen year's wedding (on a ship, which was beautiful experience all around). We stayed with my parents last night. We left Hacienda Heights around 11:40 a.m. I knew we had to get there before 2:00 p.m. because Sergio was speaking today at 2:00 and that had sold out. I've only been to Ojai twice before and I got lost again. But we found it at 1:40. One of the museum staff asked me if I was there for the talk and I said, "No, I saw it was sold out." She told me we could go if we paid for it. For a brief moment I was tempted but I realized my kids hadn't eating lunch yet, so they wouldn't last another full two hours. So we just paid our $10 for the family and settle on seeing as much as we could in 20 minutes.
The kids loved reading all the original comic art that Sergio had brought, both his originals and other artist originals. I saw Sergio talking to a father and son when I got in. He was very friendly and let people take pictures of him. As usual, I was too shy to interrupt, so I just went around looking at the art.
He had an exhibit of his other work (potter and stitch, etc.) that was neat. A lot of awards, original art for PVC figures, his worked published in many different countries, personal art, promotional posters and a cool mini replication of his studio. I really liked his Mad cartoons on National Parks since we had just visited some this summer.
I did buy a 25th anniversary Groo comic for Angela and she is reading now, laughing out loud.
"It's just so funny. He just does some dumb stuff, like he has no brain."
We went across the street to STARR Market and bought some sub sandwiches. The butcher there was so friendly. Ojai is a charming town.
That was fun way to end a wonderful weekend.
Peace, maka

Great pics! That must have been an such awesome exhibit to go to. I wish this was a traveling exhibit that toured through museums around the country for more fans to see. With all Museums painted with wall marginals throughout like the ones Sergio drew in those pics. If I owned a Museum, I'd never paint over them! lol.
I was at least able to mail order the special signed poster print they were selling and they seem to still have some left in stock.
(another cool giant crowd/marginal poster scene)
