That is very sad news, indeed. He was an inspiration to me. The National Cartoonists Society had an outing to his farm a few years ago, but I was not able to go because of scheduling conflicts. I never met the man.
A little story about Frazetta's work: my Dad has never been much of a reader. Now that he's getting a little older he's started cracking open a book or two (much to me and my Mom's delight), but as a youngin' and a high school jock he only read The Lord of the Rings and the Conan The Barbarian paperbacks with the Frazetta covers - the later, he told me, he got soley for the awesome paintings on the covers. Those covers were very inspirational to him as he ended up becoming a body builder in his early adulthood.
So a few weeks ago I found this crummy (in a good way) hole-in-the-wall used bookstore in the "hippie" section of town and discovered they had all the Frazetta Conan books. I brought my Dad there the next day and he bought all of them - he was smiling like a kid on Christmas morning! He asked if I wanted anything, and I picked out an old paperback copy of one of George MacDonald Fraser's Flashman books... which also just happened to have an awesome Frazetta cover!
