What other comics (besides Usagi Yojimbo) do you read?
Obviously we all read Usagi Yojimbo, but what other series do you get when they come out?
Off the top of my head, I read everything Hellboy related, Daredevil, Batman, Groo the wanderer, and a few others. I have stopped reading a few of the titles that I do not enjoy as much so that I can focus more on reading Usagi Yojimbo.

Sailor Moon, Batman 66, Pokemon Adventures, and Groo. Probably other ones, but I can't think of them right now

I am a sucker for all things Star Wars and have been reading those comics. I have a bunch of the Omnibuses and I am always ordering more of those. I also have recently been reading Mouse Guard which I enjoy. But, hands down it is Usagi. Usagi Yojimbo is what has led me back to comics and I am soooo happy to be back!

Re: What other comics (besides Usagi Yojimbo) do you read?
The current comics on my pull list: Ms. Marvel, Groo, Dark Horse Presents, BADWORD Planet, Providence, Shaft, Archie vs. Predator, Sandman Overture, SIP Kids and UY. I also buy some graphic novels (I love the stuff :01 puts out) and I love the Mind MGMT collections. Finally, I buy a lot of digital comics via humblebundle, groupees, another digital comic service I can't remember, comixology (when they have sales), and Digital Dark Horse (when they have sales). I've read walking dead, invincible (over a hundred issues each), and hellboy all on my phone or computer. Digital is an cheaper way to explore what is out there, especially when there are bundles. The latest Humblebundle includes all six collections of Lock & Key for less than $20 and you get all the other books as well. https://www.humblebundle.com/books
And I love the local library. Our library does a great job getting a lot of fantastic graphic novels, including manga, and collections.
The problems is finding time to read it all.
Peace, maka

Re: What other comics (besides Usagi Yojimbo) do you read?
Usagi got me back into reading comics and is my favorite, but I have been reading a few others in their trade, omnibus, and collected formats. I'm also including a couple books by cartoonists that aren't necessarily "comics":
Hellboy
Saga
Rocket Raccoon
Bone
RASL
Tuki
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (early Eastman/Laird stuff)
Sandman
some stuff by Danial Clowes
pretty much everything by Jason (a Norwegian cartoonist)
And a few that are on my shelf, but I haven't gotten around to yet:
Y:The Last Man
Wake
Deadpool
Nausicaa
Serenity
B.P.R.D.
Maus
Hellboy
Saga
Rocket Raccoon
Bone

I want to read Mouse Guard, but I haven't seen it at my comic shop. I'll probably order it sometime, but I'd like to finish collecting Usagi first.BuckRogers wrote:I am a sucker for all things Star Wars and have been reading those comics. I read the first few issues of the new Marvel Star Wars series, and I might give the next issue a try. I heard it has a fight between Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett (my favorite Star Wars character), so I am pretty excited.
As much as I love Batman, Lobster Johnson, and Hellboy, Usagi is the greatest comic book series of all time, in my opinion. I just started Grasscutter yesterday, and I can't wait to read the rest.

Speaking of collecting Usagi, I can't wait to read Space Usagi. Usagi's futuristic, raygun-wielding descendant is a great idea, and the character' design is really cool. I hope to find a copy of the trade somewhere.BuckRogers wrote:You and me both, man, you and me both!Lobster Johnson wrote: I'd like to finish collecting Usagi first.

The futuristic version of Nilson Groundthumper and Hermy is cool too.

Aside from Usagi, I also have these titles on my current list:
Image: Copperhead, Chrononauts.
Dark Horse: Pastaways, Rebels.
Oni Press: Kaijumax.
I'm also into titles from Valiant (Quantum and Woody, Rai, etc.), though I'll probably getting them in TPBs. My latest from them was their miniseries The Valiant (basically a good intro for anyone who wants to dive into their universe).

Re: What other comics (besides Usagi Yojimbo) do you read?
As a group we don't read that many superhero comics. The only comic I read is Usagi Yojimbo, but I do read a lot of trades.
These are the books I am currently reading in book format as they're released:
Fables
The Goon
Hawkeye
Batman (Scott Snyder)
Chew
The Crogan Adventures (Chris Schweizer)
Saga
Mind MGMT
The Sixth Gun (still waiting for the last trade)
Lazarus
Mouse Guard
Velvet
Walking Dead
Rat Queens
Southern Bastards
Ms. Marvel
The Unwritten
Deadly Class
Some that I've enjoyed that have ended:
Y: The Last Man
Scalped
Sweet Tooth
Northlanders
Locke & Key
Bone
Criminal
Wizard of Oz (Eric Shanower)
Snarked
Fatale
Sandman
There's also a few one shots I've liked:
A Tale of Sand (Jim Henson)
I Kill Giants
Seconds

Beasts of Burden was pretty good.

I read a lot of Valiants back in the early 90's, but haven't read these yet. I've heard they're good.nekobasu380 wrote:I'm also into titles from Valiant (Quantum and Woody, Rai, etc.), though I'll probably getting them in TPBs. Waiting on the Groo trade. I can only take so much before he gets on my nerves.Steve Hubbell wrote:Must reads:

I think I've read the first 4 volumes. One of them had a bunch of short stories.Lobster Johnson wrote:I read everything Hellboy related

Re: What other comics (besides Usagi Yojimbo) do you read?
Oh, I love a lot of comics. Some of these are new, some are reprints currently being released, others are stuff already released that I'm just now collecting, ect.
- Donald Duck/Uncle Scrooge (am warming up to Mickey, too - and I was always more of a Looney Tune/Fleischer/MGM fan as a kid!)
- Popeye (newspaper strips and comics)
- Hellboy/BPRD/all the other Mignolaverse books
- Love and Rockets
- all the Shigeru Mizuki books that are coming out
- Asterix
- Blacksad
- Corto Maltese (just discovered this via IDW's new editions!)
- Krazy Kat
- the Sergio Toppi books Archaia is releasing
- Valerian and Laureline
- Lone Wolf and Cub (via the omnibi, naturally)
- Osamu Tezuka stuff - but Vertical letting the Black Jack stuff go out of print is killing me!
- Batman '66
- Peanuts
- Calvin and Hobbes (need that complete box set. Meanin' to get it for forever...)
- Plastic Man
- The Metal Men
- Marvel cancelling their paperback 'Masterworks' books has messed up my Silver Age Marvel collecting. At least I got all of the Ditko Spidey. Eying those KIrby FF omnibi!
... probably more I'm forgetting. I'm running out of shelf space!
