Mike Mignola posted on his Facebook today that Hellboy is getting the reboot treatment. Here's what he had to say:

There IS going to be another HELLBOY MOVIE.
It's going to be an R rated reboot directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) and staring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy.
More news to come soon--
A bit more detail here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-v ... ur-1001462

While I enjoyed the Guillermo del Toro Hellboy and am glad that it introduced me to the character, it became quite evident to me after reading the comics that the movies could have been a whole lot better if they had stuck to the supernatural creepiness of the comics. That said, I'm looking forward to a more faithful adaptation this time around.

So, here are the comic books that I really want to see as movies and their current cinematic statuses:
Mouse Guard - announced and in active development
Bone - announced and in development
Hellboy - announced and in development
TMNT - currently on hold (needs a reboot IMO)
Mind MGMT - announced and in early development
Usagi Yojimbo - :|

Seems like a bad idea to me. I'm a big fan of both the comics and the movies even though they're very different takes on the character, and was hoping for the movies to get a nice conclusion in the same way Mike was able to do in his comic.

I like to believe, just like the Hellboy movie introduced you to the character, that movies are a great way to expose the character to new fans. It's a different art form, and it needs to be profitable to keep it coming back. But I don't think it has to be perfect. Us fanboys and fangirls would like it to be. But bringing new fans into the comics is win in my book.

Guardians of the galaxy is a pretty good example. I've been buying comics from a comic book store since 1988 and I didn't know about them. But if that brings people into the stores and spending their money, that is a good thing for the health of this business and fandom.

Peace, maka

Wow, I didn't expect another Hellboy movie! I'm certainly interested in seeing more about this.

I'm looking forward to it.
I hope we won't be disappointed.

Please tell me the Hellboy books are good. I just purchased the first Library Edition even though I wasn't blown away by one of the trades I read. I see Hellboy Library Editions on many "shelf porn" shelves. I must have been in a bad mood the day I read it. It happens.

Around the 40 minute mark Jeff says he'll believe it when he sees it in the theater. Or something like that.
Mind MGMT - announced and in early development
This book got so confusing. I'll definitely have to reread it someday.

The first Library Edition is good, but to tell you the truth, I didn't love it and it was my least liked of the Library Editions. Libraries 2, 3 and 5 were my favorites.
