dear mr.sakai-san i have a question about bucky o hare. i notice in the san diego comic con they had a booth full of bucky o hare stuff and wonder if you ever read the comic book or seen the old 80's cartoon? i never read the comics but i remember the cartoon. it only ahd like 13 episodes. and arcade game and a nintendo game. but this question is for everyone else too if they remember it. i found out deadeye was voice by scott mcneil who does duo voice in gundam w. i heard the voices overs were bad in the cartoon. i wonder what would happen if bucky and usagi met?

Yea I remember Bucky O'Hare.. He even had action figures and stuff.. I think it just fell flat though.. It tried to ride on the coattails of TMNT and it didn't work..

Hey Gunblade007,
I think what Guest was trying to say is that Bucky O' Hare's resounding failure at toy merchandising is the reason Space Usagi never got picked up as a cartoon series. The pilot was made (pretty cool too! Stan showed it at ComicCon. ) but no toy company would get behind it because they were aware how badly Bucky O' Hare failed. No one wants to lose the head over a Space Bunny.
The real failure here is creating a character soley for the purpose of marketing toys. Bucky O' Hare was a one dimesional character without a well developed background or world. Some exec or intern probably said one day while brainstorming how to suck more money out of the American public, "How 'bout a green bunny in space?" Why not, everyone agreed. It was probably a Friday and they all wanted to go home early. That is how many poorly constructed ideas are formed. They were thinking about the marketing and merchandising and not about the story. Bruce Lee wrote that the greatest mistake in any conflict is to predict the outcome, marketing types take heed!

Kids didn't "get it" because there was nonthing to get.
I am a huge fan of Space Usagi.

I am sorry the series was never produced.
I guess that's why Guest said, "Don't go there."

yeah i know avylin. i can't remember much of the carrtoon but i remember the old nes game was hard for me. i would of like to read the comic book. but i almost brought a comic book of bucky o hare and space usagi issue one. i hope they will have bucky o hare again in mid ohio comic con. i'll just have to find a way to get space usagi issue one. i think it was a good idea. the toys look cheap. but the storyline was cool. bucky remind me of yugi on yu-gi-oh with those big huge eyes. i only know the comic book was very violence but heck it's hard doing a non-violence comic book and cartoon. i post my story at a fiction site. and i rated it pg becuase of the violence. the rest it's pretty clean could be a g but because of the violences and all. i don't know if mr.larry hama is writing for the new gi-joe comic book he did work as a writer for gi-joe in 1983. he was also the korean guy on m.a.s.h. i think if bucky o hare was still around maybe there would be a cross over.

Yea most cartoons that came out of the 80s were based on action figures.. If the figures didn't do well sometimes they would cancel the show.. Thats why Masters of the Universe never got a movie sequel.. The toys just fell flat and the movie was altered to look like something completely different..
