365 days of Usagi

Post by Maka »

Dear UYDers,

So my 50th birthday is coming up on May 9th. I had a lot of fun with the FB Usagi Yojimbo! Group Grasscutter book club last month. I’ve been trying to think of what to do next to celebrate my love of Usagi during this 50th years celebration of not dying.

I know I have enough Usagi Yojimbo stuff to post one thing a day (I think I will start on May 1st, 2020) for the next year. But I also know if we get a chance to travel again, we will do so. Then I won’t be at home to take a photo of Usagi stuff. If that happens, would you be willing to post something to keep the streak going?

Maybe this is a terrible idea? What suggestions do you have for me to celebrate both my life, Usagi, and our dojo community? I’m open to ideas! Our collective brains are better than my old one.

I’m think of starting with just posting the physical floppy comics - that will take us past 200 days easily.

Peace, maka

It came today. It is the best. I’ll post a photo on my actual birthday.

Thanks Steve! Peace, maka

Brooks, you will have to let me know how you know what it was after my birthday. I’d like to hear that story. :)

Steve sent me the two Dojo books (20th and 35th anniversary) and included a copy of the same thing you got as a surprise. He asked that I wait to talk about it and/or post a photo until after you has gotten your copy since he wanted it to be a surprise.

Dear The Broox,
I’m glad Steve was able to find you copies of the dojo comics. And the new surprise is awesome too.

I feel so lucky to get a copy. Thanks Steve!

Dear UYDers,

As most of you know, I've been posting on the FB Usagi Yojimbo! group #yearofusagi photos of Usagi panels (from mostly the early Albedo/Fantagraphics/Mirage issues) for the past 73 days. I'm about to try and take a socially distanced annual camping trip with my in-laws family (from July 14 - 29, 2020). I'm hoping some of you will be willing to take over for me during this time where I might not have access to internet and I won't have access to my comics. If so, please just use the #yearofusagi hashtag and if you can keep track of the days, great. If you don't keep track of the days, that's okay too. Thanks!

(I'll post this message on the FB group too so see to encourage those fine folks to join the team and participate too).

Peace, maka

Dear Maka,

I'll do my part to help out.

I will begin posting #yearofusagi photos beginning tomorrow morning.

I wish you and your family a safe and fun filled camping adventure.

Abayo!

Believe it or not, we are half a year of a daily photo of Usagi Yojimbo on the Facebook group. I just past 101 in the UY Vol. 3. There will not be 178 more issue before we get to May 2021. What do you suggest I post daily (don’t be rude  ) after I run out of individual floppy issues?

Peace, maka
