The Coming of Age Ceremony, Seijin no Hi, is for those who will turn 20 (the age of majority) between last April and this coming March. It was always cerebrated on January 15, until 1999 when it was changed to the second Monday of January. Twenty is the age of adulthood. Now they can vote, drink and smoke. It is a national holiday.
