My complete Baian the Assassin collection just arrived today!
Looks like it will be excellent. Supposedly the series that launched Ken Watanabe's career.
Have any of you ever watched this before?

Re: Baian the Assassin
I liked it. Some of the original short stories have even been translated into English and published in the USA.

(paperback version of Master Assassin)
An earlier movie version of the story, made back in the '70's....

I just recently bought the remastered version of this to replace the recorded from television version I already had.
Plus there was an earlier television series as well.....

Re: Baian the Assassin
Watched the first 1 hour 40 minute "pilot" episode last night with the older kids (10, 12, 14). We all really enjoyed it. I think that it is very well done. My kiddos did not mind the subtitles at all but then again, I have been having them watch Kurasawa movies since before they could actually read so now that they are good readers, they do not even notice having to read subtitles.
And there was not too much violence and just a brief female upper body nudity shot once or twice. Probably PG-10-12 in my opinion.
Highly recommend it. Bought it off of Amazon for $9.99. Every episode on DVD in a 4 pack with good quality. As Lt Aldo Raines once said, Damn good deal!"
