Anyone seen the anime film Tekkon Kinkreet? It's supposed to come out on DVD in the US next week; it looks like it would probably be worth a rental:

Another anime film that I've wanted to see for a while that hasn't reached DVD in the US is Mamoru Oshii's Tachigui: The Amazing Lives of the Fast Food Grifters:

Has anyone here seen any recent anime films that they would recommend? I think the last one that I saw was either Ghost in the Shell 2 or Katsuhiro Otomo's Steamboy (both are worth seeing).

Dear Readers,
I just watched Tekkonkinkreet and it was great.
This movie is not for children.
The movie is true to
the manga (Black and White in usa) about 2 homeless street children.
Enjoy!
Best wishes to all!

I watched Tekkon Kinkreet on DVD this morning. I enjoyed it for the most part, but it somehow never really engaged me that much on anything other than a pure "eye candy" level. Still, that's good enough for me sometimes, and I would give this movie a qualified "thumbs up."
Is it possible that I would get a little more out of the movie if I had read the manga first?
It is what it is.

Dear Readers,
No Jet, what you see is what you get.
The plot is simple.
Please be glad you saw the movie.
When Pulp magazine ran Black and White in English you could only read a few pages every month.
Also the movie is in "eye candy" color.....(same quality as Millenium Actress, Perfect Blue and Paprika.)
Enjoy,
Best wishes to all!
