Criterion Collection sale ends today at Barnes and Noble. A week ago I snagged along with The Hidden Fortress, Rashomon, The Seventh Seal, The Great Dictator, and M, the 1978 Japanese horror film House, which Jet Jaguar had spoken of in a previous post.

Anyway, my views on the film after sitting and watching it with a friend and my younger brother; LOL this is the best BAD horror film I have seen. It is a great group flick to watch and laugh at while making silly MST3K comments to. The film feels so much like Rocky Horror, I was just waiting for them to jump into song and dance at any moment. My brother and our friend both looked at me in the end though and said, "What just happened to the last hour of my life." Responses, "HOUSE ate it."

Anyway thanks Jet for introducing me to this gem of bad horror cinema. This is so part of my line up of Bad Halloween films I shall be watching on October 31st!

So what are others opinions of the film. Maybe Usagi could find himself in a crazy house trying to eat him in the future? Though we all know the Ronin Rabbit would make it out!

Glad you enjoyed House, even though I personally wouldn't classify it as a "bad" movie. It certainly has its share of "wacky" parts that are good for some laughs, but there's also quite a bit about it that I find genuinely creepy and haunting. I think my appreciation of it has increased after a few viewings.

Did you watch the short film included on the Criterion DVD? Stylistically, it's pretty different from House (much more French "new wave") but definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of House.
