Muramasa Demon Blade
Set in the same time period as Usagi Yojimbo, this game has you play as either amnesiac ninja fugitive or a samurai princess whose body is being controlled by the spirit of an evil samurai. You also meet the spirit of the famous although deranged sword smith Muramasa creator of the demon blades! However both characters are immune to the effects of the evil swords which are either katana or odachi (a sword that predates the katana but was mainly used by cavalry). There are a good many yokai you got to fight although they accidentally called the nue a chimera which is almost accurate but anyhow, this game was made the same people who gave us Odin Sphere and Dragons Crown.
So has anyone played and what did you think? I've seen the playthroughs and boy am I impressed! Very exciting game I recommend!

Btw they did a remake called Muramasa Rebirth and you can download additional characters to play like a two tailed catgirl as she tries to avenge her master's death, a peasant while being aided by his friends and the spirit of his dead wife rebels against he local lord, a rogue ninja who must punish his former ninja comrades before he is killed by a white snake kami (he damaged her shrine while fighting his enemies and she'll strangle him but she helps him as she doesn't want anyone to kill him but her), and an ONI girl trying to find the treasures of the seven lucky gods while trying to keep the eyes of a former priest turned womanizer from wandering onto other women!
And there are hot springs to bath in too! No seriously there are hot springs. You also fight the tanuki who actually uses his....um...balls to attack you with...yeah don't ask.

Re: Muramasa Demon Blade
Erm... trying to remember, it was five years ago I played the game
(and my brain seems to remember all the stuff I don't need to know, and never any of the stuff I do need to know)
I got it because I'd enjoyed Odin Sphere on the PS2, and thought it would be a similar style of gameplay. Now that I do recall heh. The story and characters worked well I thought, and I loved the graphic style. Probably going to have to fire it up again (if I ever had the chance) to refresh my memory more...

I thought the story was good. Haven't played it but I did watch some playthroughs on YouTube and I thought it was good. I did like swords having names.
