I have arrived in San Diego and will be posting photos of the event nightly here on the DojoBoard.

Just checked into our room at the Westgate. Nice hotel! Getting everything all settled in. Going to pick up badges and lunch here soon.

Wednesday - Preview Night

I caught up with Mayhem getting his latest commissioned piece -- an awesome one featuring Usagi and his three leading ladies.

I also got to see a really cool "recreation" of the cover for Albedo NR2, done as a commission for a fan..what a great idea, and it turned out very nice. I zoomed in on this one and the likeness to the original cover is striking. The only difference is the year! 2008 instead of 1984.

I caught the Fringe screening, JJ Abrams' new TV series. It was decent. Nothing over the top like Lost or Cloverfield. I also toured the exhibit hall a little bit. WHAT A MAD HOUSE!!! But you gotta love it. Preview night is always the worst because there is almost no programming to drag the masses away from the hall. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Will Mr Sakai be at the convention on Sunday, my kids and I will be heading to the Con that day and would love to stop by and find new Usagi books.

Stan Sakai usually attends the San Diego Comic Con from Preview Day through to the last day, so he should be there on Sunday.

As far as what kind of a selection of books and other material he has left on the last day is hard to say considering it has been picked over for four days already.

Maybe if you post a message here as to which books you might be interested in, he might be able to set some aside until Sunday.

Awesome pieces for Mayhem, who is the "3rd"? I'm fairly certain Tomoe is in the center (deservedly so, I'm shocked if she's not in the pic), I'm actually slightly (but shouldn't be) surprised that Mariko is in there, but the glare leaves the 3rd lady a mystery and I can think of at least 2 that COULD be there.

Comic-con has been a blast so far. I wanted to post more photos last night but fell asleep while uploading...they are there now.

We had the Dojo meeting at 2PM as scheduled. This time outside. Hopefully no one missed it. I was concerned because the Todd Klein panel waiting to get in after Groo was preventing anyone from getting in through the main entrance...so we all exited and met outside for the photos!

The room 20 took so long to clear out after the Who/Torchwood panel that I didn't get over to room 8 quickly enough for the gathering and photo. Hope to see a pic of those who did make it there eventually!

Hello folks from San Diego! Just checking in using the hotel's somewhat limited net capability (I mean the PC is in 800x600 for starters!). Expect lots of photos uploaded from me when I return to the UK on Tuesday (or Wednesday if I don't recover immediately!).

As for my commission, I had a fun idea and there will be a proper scan of it on my return. Who do people want to see with Usagi? Well I thought let the girls fight it out! So Chizu is on the left, Tomoe in the middle and Mariko on the right. And Usagi has no idea... Stan managed to capture my idea perfectly

I've got everything that people wanted also, so my luggage is gonna be just that little bit heavier on the return flight
