Speaking of art... those waiting on the piece I won last month... I really don't know what the people handling it were up to, but it's only just been shipped out to me yesterday! Hopefully it'll get here in the next few days...

With the line art: I send everything to Diana--covers as well as story pages. She scans the cover, and e-mails it to Tom who colors and separates the colors for printing. Separtating means to break the colors down into the three primary colors--red, yellow, and blue. It looks like little dots, and each color is printed separately one on top of the other. When the dots are blended together in different proportions, they make secondary and tertiary colors--green, purple, etc. The black lines are printed as a fourth color.
With the painted art: I send the originals to Diana who sends it to the camera department. The camera separates the colors for the printer.
I have been selling all my covers, and have been keeping all my printed story pages. With very few exceptions, I just sell art at conventions.
Sensei, thanks for that explanation, the creative process behind bringing something from concept to a finished product is fascinating to me. I look forward to each and every issue! Eventually I hope to make it to a convention and be lucky enough to get another piece of art.

I was at the local used bookstore, which has a pretty respectable comics selection, when I came across a signed Hardcover of Usagi Vol.17. I opened it up and found that it was individually numbered (#218) and had Stan's real, honest-to-goodness signature on the inside. And the price was $30 (marked down from $60, because of a torn dust jacket). Naturally, I snatched it up!
I was a bit skeptical about the signature, but I looked closer and it was legit! Couldn't believe it!
