I believe that it has the same content as the much cheaper softcover version. So what you're paying extra for is the hardbound cover and the signed/numbered tipin plate. Other than those two things, you're getting the same book with the same quality paper (as far as I can tell) and the same size pages. I'm a big fan of hardcover books, so that is the single biggest selling point for me.Usagi-Yojimbo wrote:So, what all comes with the hardcover version of Saga? I know its signed, but is there anything else special about it?

NICE!!! Cannot wait to get mine later this week!jabba359 wrote:This just got dropped off on my doorstep!![]()
It's kind of cool to see The Green Persimmon printed in color, as my TPB has the story in black and white.

You lucky people!
I was at my local comic book store yesterday and we were talking about the book... and it coming in next week. I wonder if the comic shops will get them early?

Busy time of year ordering around here with the HC UY Saga #3 and 4 available for pre-order as well as HC Volume 29 and the HC Senso. I have soo many things pre-ordered right now I do not even remember what is coming when!!! Not a bad problem to have, I suppose!
Same problem here with remembering what all I've pre-ordered.

The front plate looks sweet jabba. Now I'm really looking forward to Thursday.

Here are a couple interior shots of Green Persimmon, colored by Tom Luth.

I especially love "zombie" Usagi in the lower right.
It reminds me of Toshiro Mifune when he gets beat up and is being sneaked out in a large wicker basket and he can barely stand. I can't remember if it's from Yojimbo or Sanjuro, but it's one of my favorite moments.

^Wait, I think I missed something. Do the Saga paperbacks contain select color stories? I understand that wasn't feasible for the Mirage issues because of the loss of the original color copies.
Will we see Yokai included in Saga?

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
The first Saga book didn't include any color stories, not in the hardcover nor the paperback. Book 2 hardcover has the one story in color, but I haven't seen a paperback copy yet to verify if it includes the color version as well.Angilasman wrote:^Wait, I think I missed something. Green Persimmon was a Dark Horse color story originally serialized in 2-page chapters in DH Extra, a tabloid-type free newspaper/ad. It is reprinted in color in both the HC and paperback versions of UY Saga 2.

Actually, "Green Persimmon" was published in twelve 2 page installments in the Diamond Previews catalog, "A Lesson in Courtesy" and "Tsuru" were both published in four instalments in Dark Horse Extra. Of course, all three stories were originally published in color.Stan Sakai wrote:Green Persimmon was a Dark Horse color story originally serialized in 2-page chapters in DH Extra, a tabloid-type free newspaper/ad. Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
Oh, and it was published as a stand alone colour comic by DH as well. I've yet to track down any copies of the Diamond catalog with the Green Persimmon story in.

So, in other words, it does not exist?

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
Do you know the DH Extra issue numbers?
Or the volume/date for the Diamond catalogs?
I used to have (and still might have) the DH Extras.... not sure though.. if I do have them they are stashed away in storage somewhere.

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
I figured Steve would probably know
I own the eight DH Extra editions, but as said, not come across any Diamond catalogues to buy. Maybe people just threw them out at the time.

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
Thanks Steve.
Don't remember if I ever had these particular Previews issues, but way back when, I did buy and save the magazine... and eventually tossed them all out.
edit... I just found images of those issues online. Seeing the covers, I know I had them. I'm going to crawl off to the corner and cry now.
Here they are in order...
