Well, I've read # 102 for the third time and actually had to look into #101 again for the n-th time....
There are a few things that strike me as odd: Shizukiri seemed surprised and wondering with his last breath where Usagi had gotten the sword.
But he had witnessed three ninja entering the hut with none of them coming out; how could he have forgotten about their weapons??
I for one would have thought he would realize his mistake ("Damn, the ninja blades...Aarrgh!")
Ok, ok, he might have been overconfident, thinking he had all the advantages on his side, but I think he should have been clever enough to work it out, although too late.
And, you may call me a nitpicker: the angle and position of the ninjato (I think that's how it's called) changes from #101 to #102.
In #101 it sticks in the wall, handle pointing downwards, in #102 it sticks in the timber of the doorframe, handle pointing upwards.
Now, I know this is not essential to the developement of the story, but...
you know, I kind of stumbled over it....
I do not know the alternative ending (yet; I'm eagerly waiting for the MCC, too.
), but from what I have grasped I believe it ends with Mayumi still being alive; I would like to see that become official knowledge in the trades, then. I would see #102 as a bad dream of how it could have been.
