Hello everyone. First time poster, long time admirier of the Rabbit Ronin.
Well after twenty years of wandering, doing good deeds, I've always felt that Usagi needs a romance.
Now I know that when most fans think of a romantic interest for Usagi they immediately picture Tomoe, but I just can't see it happening. She is too closely bound to Noriuki's court to marry or become involved with a mere ronin.
I think Chizu would make a better choice. She obviously likes the guy.
At any rate...
After killing so many people, Usagi deserves to have romantic entaglement, as opposed to a political one.
Hey, wouldn't it be nice to see Tomoe jealous of Chizu.
True the stories have been going for 20 years but in Usagi's world he has been a ronin for possibly 5 to 8 years - im not too sure as I only have half the books
You can dream ... You can wish ... But until a ronin is done with being a ronin and stops wandering here and there, I don't see much romance being a real possibility.
Unless the chick is a ronin too ... Buuut, currently, no females fit that bill.

On a side note, have Tomoe and Chizu ever even met?
I can't recall from the issues I own that Tomoe and Chizu have met. And I don't think they would considering Chizu used to work for the Shadow Lord *petui* so I doubt their paths would cross socially.
But it would be great for them to fight one another...heh...cat fight...heh.
I thought Inazuma would have been a good match, but she's got her own problems at the mo.
Say....wasn't there a competition about all the girls who have loved Usagi, names and brief info. That was from the email newsletter - only got one and no more - I assume its long since over.
Speaking of the dark lord, has anyone seen what he actually looks like?
Only seen him twice, both in Seasons. The 1st was only one panel where his face was obscured by Katsuichi's arm in The Withered Field and again in full battle gear in Return to Adachi Plain where Usagi confronts him (and gets his scar).
Has he appeared any further times? I only have 10 out of the 19 book (excluding art work and space usagi)

Hikiji is shown full faced only once in the Summer Special, and is essentially human in appearence, which Mr. Sakai regrets doing. So now he is in the shadows, plotting and scheming and well, acting human.
I was just re-reading Travels with Jotaro and was actually thinking the same thing. I mean, Chizu and Usagi seem to have a closer relationship than Usagi does with Tomoe. Their relationship seems more "proper," I guess. Just a thought.
He also showed the five-fingered fur-less Lord Hikiji in "Home Coming" fromCritters 10-11 (also in UY Book 1). Book 1 also reprints the Summer Special appearance mentioned by estee. Check out Lord Hikiji's Fortress for the Home Coming appearance.
Regarding Usagi's romance, I think while a relationship with Tomoe would be the most logical, a relationship with Chizu would be the most intriguing. And, regarding Tomoe getting married, it is very possible. Spoiler below................................

Below is a spoiler from UY #84: ......In the latest issue #84 Geishu Lord Horikawa proposes to Noriyuki to marry Tomoe off to Ito Noren, vassel of some Lord Kojima of the West, who has an eye for her...and of course Noriyuki replies by saying "it's about time she received some happiness for herself"....seemingly agreeing with the notion. Crazy!!!
I would love to have the coloured specials and any other specials - but if they end up as part of the books then I'll wait for them instead.
Most of UY is out of stock in book stores or they are ones I alrady have, so i'll have to wait for re-prints for the books I cant get off amazon.
Speaking of UY merchandise book wise. Is there anything else I should look for other than books 1-19, space usagi and the art work of UY?
I am yet to even find comics in England, most of it is Marvel and DC comics and the odd Dark Horse (but no UY!)

Well, Noriuiki is a kid. What does he know about women?
I'm more intrigued by Tomoe's reaction after Usagi revealed Jotaro was his son in issue 72. She was taken more than aback. She was almost heartbroken....don't you just hate Stan they way he teases his fans and his characters like this. That just shows how skilled he is.
Ah man....this is what annoys me about been from England (I'm sure other Europeans are annoyed too as we get our manga/comics months after you guys do), the most recent issue I have is 68 which is at the end of book 18. So i wont read that until book 19 comes out in August.
Oh well...shame my comic book store is so far away from me.
Least I have books 5, 15, 16, and 17 been sent to me near the end of the month.
Hmm...reading that makes me wonder if usagi will go for any of the main girls at all, lol. Tomoe may be married off, I seriously doubt anything further will happen with Kitsune and Chizu is also highly unlikely but most possible at the current point. Unless Stan introduces a new female character
Can't you just order the individual issues from TFAW.com as they come out? I just went there and pretended to be from the UK. Shipping costs were not too bad. About $7 for one issue. I started adding multiple issues and the cost went up to only $11. I bet you can complete your collection up to #84 with shipping under $20. Plus the comics are a better read than the trades, being that the format is much larger.
I bet you could also find a few online sources in the UK or Europe that may cost you less for imported comics....

Where do you live in the UK? If you're in Birmingham you can check out Nostalgia & Comics for UY graphic novels (that's where I usually get them from) or if you're in Nottingham check out the shop Page 45. I hope this info helps ^^;;
