Who's watching the LOST finale on Sunday?

Post by Jet_Jaguar »

How many people here are planning to watch the Lost finale on Sunday? I'm sort of bracing myself for it to be a disappointment (I have no idea how the writers can possibly get out of the corner they've painted themselves into), but I'm still excited.

Anyone planning to go to a party to watch the "geek Superbowl" on Sunday?

If you're interested in reading some books that have either influenced or been featured on Lost, here's a list. I've only read about half of these, but I am slowly working my way through the Bible (thanks to @austinkleon on Twitter for linking to this):

I'm kind of surprised the writer of this list forgot this one (I'd probably also add The Man in the High Castle or something else by Philip K. Dick, especially since his work seems to have been a big influence on the last season):

I'll definately be watching. I've been a viewer since halfway through season 1 so I'm too invested to not!

They're re-airing the pilot tonight and I was going to watch - then I remembered a new Doctor Who comes on tonight as well. DW supersedes Lost re-runs!

I have been buying all the seasons on DVD, but have yet to watch a single episode. I guess I'll buy the final season when it's released, and have a Lost marathon.

I love these complete TV seasons on DVDs. I work with the TV on, and just put in a disc, and don't have to change it for 4 to 6 hours. It saves the trouble of figuring out what to watch next, and getting up from the drawing table to change discs all the time.

I'll definitely be watching though I wasn't hooked until sometime last year when I caught a couple late night reruns and then borrowed the Season DVD sets from the library. It'll be interesting which 'loose ends' they actually try to tie up. *NOT A SPOILER ALERT just a rumor* I heard they weren't addressing the kids that have been on the show which makes sense.
Yeah Stan, the season length DVD's are very nice of whatever show catches one's fancy. Having the background 'noise' can be nice when doing something else (I've done that while doing stuff online. Not that that compares to doing art, but, you know what I mean.). I have to wonder has it ever caused you to add some detail to a story or background when doing Usagi stuff?

If you watched it, what did you think?

*SPOILERS*

At first, the ending irritated me a little bit, but the more I think about it, the more sense it makes. If you can accept time travel or parallel universes, I'm not sure why the characters being in a sort of purgatory in the "sideways-flashes" is that hard to accept. I'm still a little disappointed that it didn't go in a more Phildickian direction. I thought bookending the series with Jack opening and closing his eye was kind of a neat touch.

*END SPOILERS*

BTW, I'd love to see a Lost manga in this style even if the characters' names got mangled a little bit. Love the super-deformed Jack. (thanks to @JList for linking to this on Twitter):

I thought the ending was pretty much a big yawn. Nothing particularly interesting happened and it dragged on forever. Though I would totally watch a spin-off sitcom with Hurley and Ben running a golf resort on the island.

I tend to agree more with Colin about the ending. It wasn't so much a yawn for me as I kept waiting for something somewhat satisfying. There were certainly some nice wrap ups and moments, but, it just left it fairly unfulfilling. It was like ordering a nice sized steak to savor and it's just ok. The whole purgatory combo religion platter was just too bizarre for me to even digest. That was like being served a platter of Fear Factor delectables. *gags a little*
