Ok, I am in need of a new Kimono, Mine I have outgrown a cuple years ago, and feel bad to get rid of it, mainly cuz of its high price my dad payed for it.
Now, I see Ebay and Kimonos are so Exspensive. One thing I would really hate to do is buy a Kimono that represents a sertin class, Like Miko and Geisha.
I dont really wantto pay a lot (like up to 45 to 100 Dollers) for a Kimono, and then find out it's not to my standadrds, How Much would you range a young Ladys Kimono- (not a teen or child)- Adult more like it.

Kimono can be quite expensive. When Hannah was six, I bought her a summer kimono that was about a hundred dollars. The obi was almost as much. By "miko" do you mean a "temple maiden"? If so, those would be a lot cheaper than a geisha's.

You could have a go at making your own. There's several sites for historical recreationists that have good hints on the slightly less ornate pre-1600 styles of kimono (try here for a really good one), or get a folkware pattern for the more modern style. For material, if there's nothing appropriate at a local fabric store, try here or here. Even if you have to hire a local seamstress for assistance, you're likely to pay less than you would for a professionally made item imported from Japan. You'll probably end up spending $50-100 on the whole affair, but you'll have a lot of control over it. You could even see about taking apart your old garment to use as a lining in the new one, which would indicate to your dad you still love your too-tiny kimono.

Of course, if you're set on an import, these guys seem relatively reasonable, at Y20,000, which is about US$200. They also have Yukata (informal lounging kimono) for around Y6,000-11,000. And, of course, there's shipping and customs duties.

yea iv made my own kimonos befor, reather nice, but besides my little girl Kimono and the one's I made, (4 I think, atleast, with my sister too and my firends) were for fun, the only big event I really got to exsperiance was Japan fest, but I was like....little lol (but I was not a modlest that year either)

Now- the Obi- Iv made those, but I want the feel of Autthentic- So- yes, thats why I asked,

By Miko I dont mean the Pressest- I know thats what I said- but really, the one step below a Geisha, befor you become one.

I still ware my little kimono, (it still fits, but it gos up past my ankles and its a little beat up from getting pushed over and falling on the concret) I ware it for Culture days at school and people are like "kimono"!!!

Besides that, I have a hapi coat, about 20 years old now, lol My history teacher gave it to me, and I ware that when I assest at Festivels LoL- I was a Kimono Modleest last year at Japanfest, (only wihte girl) to do it, and I fell in love with it. So- yes,

First off, thank you all for tellig me much of what you know, and helping me out. I will Still look into your words and when I have money, ^^ I will do good for myself, and my sister. LoL- (She wants a Kimono too )

I have won some luck off Ebay, and was able to get a Kimono, Which I was happy with, because my summer fan, is the same color as the Kimono I just won. The only thing that upset me was the Stains on it, Which was unpoosted, Till I won, and he put up the notic about it, But, - Do any of you think you can be able to get stains like this out of a Kimono- Hear is the page link to the Kimono

And hear is the Obi....this was a just "ehh...no one bidded" type thing, and I dont have a Obi for my little girl Kimono, so If it looks well with any, I will keep it ^^.

I suppose it's a bit too late now, but if you live in Southern California, there is a chain of shops called Kimono-Ya that deals in vintage kimonos and associated clothing items. They have a wide selection of really beautiful designs, and their prices are really good, as kimonos go. I've only ever seen a couple of them damaged in any way (i.e., stained, small tears in seams); for the most part they are very high quality, very well-preserved. There are shops in Century City and Santa Monica, and there is one more somewhere.

oh cool ^^ Well I Live in GA- Pretty far from Cal- that is so cool!- If I ever come like a shop like that (anywere - but hopefully in GA in my case lol) - I 'll Sure take a see at ^^- Thanks a bunch! I now know that there are Kimono shops in the US After all ^^
