General Tadaoka was a famous general in Lord Mifune's service. during the
battle of Adachigahara, he fled to a nearby town to rally the people against
Hikiji's forces. They would not fight for him however and when a rider
approached, brining word of Mifune's death, he performed seppuku.
The ritual was interrupted however, Hikiji's men finding him and
his second before the last cut could be made. Hikiji's footsoldiers drew
lots to see who would slay the great general and his head was removed from
his body.
However, Tadoka's spirit could not rest with the shame of his
death at the hands of mere foot soldiers and the lack of dignity with which
it was carried out. He haunted the site of his slaying until Usagi completed
the ritual, allowing him peace.
