[We love to get letters! Send
them to USAGI YOJIMBO LETTERS, 1800 Bridgegate Street #101, Westlake
Village, CA 91361. You can send stuff straight to Stan c/o this address
and it'll be forwarded to him, but please - don't ask for free sketches,
or even a letter back. Cartoonists is busy people! - ED.]

Dear Stan,
I never really read any Usagi stuff until fairly recently. I
picked up the Summer Special as a speculation a while ago. I liked
it, but never looked into any other Usagi stories until just recently. I saw
Usagi Yojimbo #1 on the shelf and said, "What the heck" and bought
it. I liked it, and bought #2, and am now looking for all the Critters
with Usagi in them. Are any more going to contain them, or is your
comic going to have it all from now on?
Ravi Chopra
Bloomfield Hills, MI
[Who says you can't have it all?? But anyway, Usagi Yojimbo
will indeed be the sole outlet for new Usagi Yojimbo material in the
foreseeable future, with the exception of a special project or two which we
mentioned in these pages last issue. Nilson Groundthumper might pop up now and
again in Critters, too, though, so don't let your subscription lapse! -
ED.]
Dear Fantagraphics Books,
My name is Matt Eddmenson. I live in
Henderson, KY. My favorite independent comic is your Usagi Yojimbo. I am 12
years old and I love to draw Usagi. I cannot wait for the third issue. I know
you have a very, very busy schedule but I would consider it a great honor if
Stan Sakai, the creator of Usagi, would please autograph my drawing of Usagi.
Thank you,
Matthew Eddmenson
Henderson, KY
[I've passed along your drawing to Stan, Matt. It's a strange thing:
most comics attract readers who ask the artist for a drawing of the characters;
Usagi tends to inspire readers to do their own interpretations of the
ronin rabbit. It's a refreshing change, in a way. - ED.]
Dear Stan,
After a couple of years of Albedo and Critters I finally
get to personally thank you for an exceptional, truly wonderful series of
stories. Usagi goes beyond words and pictures to show a real variety of
attitudes and emotion so uncommon in the comic books of today. This stuff is
Art.
If you ever want to sell any of your
pages or do another T-shirt, count on my money order. Thank you again.
A dedicated fan,
Pete Peterson
New Castle, DE
[At present, Stan does not sell any of his original pages, but if you
catch him at a convention he usually has loads of finished sketches (like the
one on this page) and full-color renderings for sale at a reasonable price.
[Get your money order ready Pete, because Stan has just released a
second Usagi Yojimbo t-shirt. Like the previous one (which has been
discontinued), it's available for $10.00 plus $1.50 postage and handling from
HAWAIIAN FUNNIES, Dave Thorne, 1306 Kahili Street, Kailua, HI 96734. Specify
small, medium, large, or extra large. (Children's sizes also available, for
$8.00 apiece.) - ED.]
