Synopsis
|

| |
The Gambler (UY book 6) is up to his old tricks with a new
partner: Kedamono. Unlike Shubo, This partnership is not as happy. In this
town, Shubo's widow seeks revenge against the gambler who bet her husband
his life. Usagi arrives searching for a temple to return the komuso's
shakuhachi (UY 2.7)
He bumps into Kedamono, and apologizes for the
accident. The gambler sees the incident and sets it up with odds against on
Usagi. Kedamono uses the shakuhachi to force Usagi into a fight, and is
killed in the resulting duel. The gambler, with a heap of money, and his
harassing partner dead, celebrates at the inn with a cup of Sake, poisoned
by the widow of his ex-partner.
