A surrealistic duel between Gen and Inazuma is transformed (for Inazuma) into a fight against the monstrous hordes of Yomi that stand between her and her "savior", a dark figure on a distant hill whom she takes for the Lord of Hell.

Meanwhile, Keiko convinces Jei that the fevered Inazuma needs proper care, and he suggests a nearby temple.

Beneath the waves, Ryoko's agents, the Heike crabs, unearth the long-lost Grasscutter; even as Lord Kotetsu's samurai are dispatched to the shore, Usagi stumbles across Grasscutter, and a leave-no-survivors manhunt begins.

While Gen, richer by a bounty, witnesses the death of a ronin mistaken for Usagi, Lord Noriyuki and Tomoe prepare to leave the Geishu lands for Edo to show their support for the new Shogun.
