Welcome, Otaku's, to the UY Comic Book Buyer's Guide. Actually, this page is more of a link page to places which carry UY, and is UNDER CONSTRUCTION. For those of you looking for the actual "Guide" part of this page, here it is:

Buying USAGI YOJIMBO Comic Books

For the first-time UY collector who's new to the world of the Ronin Rabbit, I must say that in a way, I envy you. You have just entered a whole new world to explore. You have absolutely no idea about this great comic book, what it's about, and who Stan Sakai is. Actually, you probably do, now that you've visited the UY Dojo. And that's one of the reasons I created this page: to introduce new readers like you to the universe of Miyamoto Usagi. Your imagination is soaring about this comic book, because it looks interesting. There are so many UY stories that you haven't read yet, so many characters to meet... Needless to say, you're very excited about this comic. You've probably visited the other UY Homepages, too, gotten to know about UY a little more, and now you've decided to give it a try. Trust me: you will not be disappointed! Just look at what fans from all over the world are saying about Usagi in the UY Dojo Guestbook, and you'll see the impact this great book has on peoples' interests. What I'm saying is that this comic will pique your interest too. And I guarantee that you will not find a more sincerely created, diligently researched comic book like USAGI YOJIMBO by Stan Sakai, ANYWHERE. Stan himself is one of the nicest, most polite cartoonists on the face of this planet. While I consider myself just a fan of USAGI YOJIMBO, I also consider myself a friend of Stan's. Actually, Stan is everyone's friend, because he has created UY for the benefit of everyone, young and old alike; men, women, and childern. And I for one am very thankful.

To start collecting USAGI YOJIMBO, a prior interest in comics, Japan, and furries (anthropomorhic characters) is NOT necessary. All you need is an appetite for high quality art, storytelling, entertainment, and of course, a thirst for knowledge. If this describes YOU, then visit the UY Concordance, which is the UY Dojo's complete complilation of all the USAGI YOJIMBO comic books and related appearances ever done. Print it out and take it to your local comic book shop. If you don't know of any comic shops in the area, check your yellow pages. There's bound to be at least one. If there isn't, or the shop doesn't carry USAGI YOJIMBO (the fools...), then be prepared to collect USAGI YOJIMBO comics through the mail. Fantagraphics Books, Mirage Publishing, and Dark Horse Comics, along with many other comic book mail-order companies, sell USAGI YOJIMBO comics through the mail. I will try as best I can to hunt down sources for buying UY comics over the Internet. And soon, even the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo may become an outlet for people to buy UY comics. Fellow UY-Webber Bill Burge has expressed some interest in helping fans obtain issues. More info on this coming soon.

USAGI YOJIMBO Mail-Order Links and Info

FANTAGRAPHICS BOOKS, UY's second publisher, carries the USAGI YOJIMBO GRAPHIC ALBUM SERIES, as described in the UY Concordance, which collects every UY story before Mirage picked up the series. Available in seven trade paperbacks (some with hardcover editions), which range in price from $10.95 to $16.95, this series is an excellent choice for the new reader. Of course, you probably want the UY comics themselves too. FB still carries a limited amount of comics from the first series (#26-38), and even some from Critters. The Fantagraphics Web Site doesn't have any info on the UY comics they sell, but they DO sell them nonetheless. Just give them a call at 1-800-657-1100 and ask for their catalog with USAGI YOJIMBO comics. You can also FAX them at 1-206-524-2104. If you live outside the U.S., call them at 1-206-524-1967. Tell them that the UY Dojo sent you. You can also send for their catalog (specify USAGI YOJIMBO) at:

Fantagraphics Books
7563 Lake City Way NE,
Seattle, WA 98115

MIRAGE PUBLISHING, UY's third publisher, is easier to deal with. Their catalog has back issues of their color series still available, as well as issues of their Space Usagi series. Just follow the instructions and you'll be o-kay. Be sure to tell them that the UY Dojo sent you, too. Click here to go to their web site catalog.

DARK HORSE COMICS, UY's current publisher, has back issues of the SU series, and the USAGI YOJIMBO series too. Click here to get to their back-issue page.

Click here to buy UY comics from World Famous Comics.

eBay has also turned out to be a good source for UY comics, especially the old ones.

If you still have problems aquiring issues of Usagi, then post on the DojoBoard and we'll hook you up.

More links to comics catalog pages which sell UY issues are on the way, so please stay tuned!
