: : I don't mind things like "A Mother's Love" where a lot of emotions are carried but I hate it when authors kill off important persons without a good reason :-)

: I don't think you'll ever have to worry about Stan not providing a good reason.

: I'm just worried that Stan will stop killing off characters in UY due to the berating he received over Spot's death. In my opinion, it's just proof that you did a good job at story telling when you can conjure up such a reaction from readers.

I agree to that, I'm just unhappy when I see a different solution. Example: The easy way to handle the bandits in #58 would be to kill them.

The clever way would be kill the leader and then buy/bring them some food. That way, it should be easy to win the frustrated men over. The next step would be to disband the group one-by-one in a few surrounding villages and provide them with new lives (marrying them, finding them real jobs).

I know that Japan at that time was a hostile land and the people lived accordingly but then, I wonder if there ever will be a comic which focuses on different solutions than the obvious "see foe - kill foe" :-) Stan Sakai and Wendy Pini (Elfquest) are the only ones who come close to my dream.
