I used a lightbox. I did the first panel, just outlining it in ink. I photocopied that and lightboxed it, in pencil, for the other three panels. I drew in the background characters, did corrections, and the preliminary inking. I then went back and added the details in all four panels.
For those who do not know what a lightbox is, it's a frosted-glass topped box containing a lightsource, such a flourescent light tube. A drawing is put on top of the glass covered with a sheet of paper. Because it is back-lit, the image shows through the cover paper and you can trace onto it. The same effect can be done if you put a drawing onto a window and cover it with a blank sheet of paper. You'll be able to see the image by the sun shining through the window.
