Looking for Usagi Yojimbo Sagas

My son Nate (age 12) has turned into a serious collector & UY fan! He is anxious to complete his collection of Sagas, using money he has earned himself. He has luckily found some of the Saga volumes used (ex-library). We are looking for a good deal on Saga Volume 2 and Volume 5. It doesn't matte...

visual references China 300 BC?

I read this story by Chaung Tzu. It is a parable that inspires a lot of teachers. I can see it in my mind as a comic, but does anyone know a source for imagery from China, around 300 BC? For instance, is there an old painting of a woodcarver that might suggest the tools used at that time? The prince...

Re: New Popeye comic book!

I bought issue one and loved it. I bought one of the hard cover collections of strips. While the material was fantastic, I thought they printed the comics too small. It was not as enjoyable to read as it might have been. I loved the movie as well. I did not know about the animated movie, but I look ...

Art History Comic Book

Hello everyone. I haven't been here in ages. I have always been a huge Sakai fan. His work is inspiring to me. His willingness to share behind the scenes information has been tremendously helpful to me. Trying to catch up with posts, and to share latest news about my new comic. This one is a collect...

Another Eagle

Hello, everyone. I haven't been here in ages! Just wanted to share that my second achieved his Eagle Scout award. This is tremendously difficult to do, but even more for him because he has cerebral palsy. I am so proud of him. He earned it without any modifications, including the hiking merit badge....

Thanks for the news about Popeye. I love the old Popeye reprints, but they are reproduced very small -- hard to read with my trifocals!

I loved the Popeye movie. I don't understand why the hate about it.

Latest comic. A new issue of Eclectic is planned for October. It's been a while! I have been very busy at work on a doctorate degree in curriculum and teaching. Still so much to do!

Roger Shimomura

I first viewed the paintings of this Japanese American artist while on vacation -- Roger Shimomura. He is a Pop artist, which I love. A lot of his work addresses his experiences including the time he and his family spent in an internment camp during WW2.

Usagi in School

I started a new job this fall as art teacher for 8th and 9th graders. This week was "Read a Graphic Novel". After reading it, they were to draw two scenes with the main character, showing the changes that took place in the character throughout the story. I brought in a big stack of my own ...

I passed!

This summer I passed my doctoral comprehensive exams. That was the most difficult thing I have ever done! This means I'm a "doctoral candidate" and when I finish my dissertation, I will have an EdD, or doctorate in education. My dissertation will be on using comics to teach anti-bullying. ...
