Re: Weekly Trivia Challenge: Dec. 1 - Dec. 6
For Question #2 on this weeks trivia i'd like to name a Mangaka if I could.
I'd really like it if Nobuhiro Watsuki the creator of the renowned Samurai manga Rurouni Kenshin did the intro.
Watsuki-san was an artist on weekly shounen jump who drew almost 15-20 pages per week. He’s a big fan of the Samurai genre and has done extensive research on the setting as well. Kenshin and Usagi have quite a bit in common, both are incredible swordsmen that try to do right in the turbulent Samurai world, have a great cast of supporting characters, very interesting villains and story arcs. Not to mention both Sakai-Sensei and Watsuki-Sensei are both fantastic artists who draw really really cool fight scenes who I’d love to see a crossover art picture with.
That would be my suggestion.

Re: Weekly Trivia Challenge: Dec. 1 - Dec. 6
I have a couple of ideas for question 2. BTW, all are great answers so far.
No particular reason other than I'd like to see them included in the roster simply because some of them also have anthropomorphic characters.
My first choice was Sergio Aragones..... already done!
How about... Walt Disney? but he's deceased....
So I had to come up with some other options...
Dave Sim creator of Cerebus. I don't know if they have ever met or read each others works, but it just seems like it might be interesting.
David Petersen creator of Mouse Guard. Maybe a better choice. Stan has done a Mouse Guard story and David has done some illustrations with Usagi in them.... I would like to think they like each other's works and might have something interesting to say in that regard.
But going with the idea of someone from Japan, in order to "help bridge the gap" (as Steve alluded to)... I nominate Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli). I know Stan visited Studio Ghibli when he went to Japan and had some behind the scenes tour if I remember right. I don't know if Miyazaki and Stan actually met, but again.... I think it would be interesting.
If someone else has the same recommendations as me, please go ahead, as my reason behind them is rather weak ("interesting" ... haha). Other than being interesting, I'd like to hear why.

Re: Weekly Trivia Challenge: Dec. 1 - Dec. 6
Honestly, I was thinking about Dave Sim as well. Maybe Stan can get him to do the introduction to the book that takes Usagi past Cerebus as the longest running single artist property
Aside from that, I was also thinking Willie Ito. He's a good friend of Stan, they have similar heritage, and he's got a lot of industry experience and legend status from working at Hanna Barbera. He was also a pleasure to meet at last year's SDCC

I don't really have time to take part in the trivia this week, but there are many interesting propositions so far.
I like LenLovecraft idea. I enjoyed Rurouni Kenshin quite a lot, and would be curious to know Nobuhiro Watsuki's opinion about Usagi.

Mike Mignola would be an interesting choice. Both him and Stan are the creators of very-well done creator-owned Dark Horse universes, and they are both great writer-artists.

Dear UYDers,
Here's the winners:
Question #1 winner: Gaffey. The answer "Usagi's bag/sling is missing (left shoulder, no solid black line) - page 4 - panel 3" In all other panels, you can see the sling or bag on Usagi. It's consistent details like this that make this comic great.
Question #2 winner: LenLovecraft. Great answers all-around but I thought I would award the newest dojo member this win.
LenLovecraft, you get to write the next UYD trivia question for this coming week.
Thank you to everyone who played. Here are some of the other excellent answers to question #1:
From Gaffey: THINGS
Roof shingles missing - page 1 - panel 3 / pages 2 & 3 - panel 1 / page 2 - panel 2 / page 2 - panel 3 / page 19 - panel 1 / page 19 - panel 3
Usagi's scar is missing (which is always done based on distance) - page 1 - panel 1 / page 11 - panel 4 / page 14 - panel 1
Usagi's bag/sling is missing (left shoulder, no solid black line) - page 4 - panel 3
PEOPLE
or The guy sitting next to Lord Akagawa is missing from page 20 - panel 5 / page 21 - panel 2
or The girl that takes the stone to Lord Akagawa is missing from page 20 - panel 1, but suddenly appears on page 21 - panel 1
From: Trevis Woods
Page 11 panel 1 No dots on Usagi's clothing. Page 3 middle panel also is missing dots but sometimes Stan does this depending on how far Usagi is off in the distance also page 11 last panel has the same long shot of Usagi. The main thing I assume you are looking for is page 11 panel 1 as I mentioned above.
From: Mayhem
I'm going to go with page 11, panel 3. Unlike many of the other jizo that Stan has drawn in the stories recently (including the one on page 2 of this issue), the one in this panel has no neck scarf on it.
From: maichan - Regarding Trivia Question 1: My answer is - page 11. Panel 1. The stippling is missing from Usagi's shirt (hitatare).
From Go: 5 pages have panels missing any background at all.
Page 7 top and bottom right, page 9 top right, page 17 center left, page 20 bottom right, and page 21 bottom left.
From Steve Hubbell: I took a look through the issue yesterday and only one thing seemed to stand out to me as "missing" that I could find.
Towards the end of the story when Usagi goes to see Lord Akagawa, he is shown waiting in to the Lord's reception room without hish daisho, starting in the first panel of page 20 and continueing until the last panel of page 23.
Abayo,
Steve
(it is also an issue that is almost completely tokage free with just two of the critters showing up near the very beginning and at the very end of the story)

Re: Weekly Trivia Challenge: Dec. 1 - Dec. 6
It works by you creating any type of question regarding Usagi Yojimbo or Stan Sakai related topics. Then you post it here under a new post titled something like, "Weekly Trivia Challenge: Dec. 9 - Dec. 13"LenLovecraft wrote:Oh yay! I've never done an UYD trivia question before so this would be my very first time. How does it work and by when should I have it?
People can PM you answers or submit answers directly to the post (your choice).
Generally, winner(s) are announced the following Monday.
You get to pick how people win. It could be:
1) First to reply with the correct answer
2) Random picking out of all the correct submitters
3) Your personal opinion
4) Or any other creative way of picking a winner.
These trivia contests are weekly. So ideally you would have a question up today or tomorrow.

Thanks for contributing in advance.
Peace, maka
