Usagi trivia June 21 - 28

Post by Mayhem »

Soooooo.... question time! And it’s going to be another info hunt cum calculation puzzle to lead you to the correct answer

Here goes... eyes down for a full house...!

Take the number of individual different variant releases for the TMNT/Usagi story Namazu.
Subtract from this the Fantagraphics issue number of the first time Usagi met a Ninja Turtle.
Multiply by the hardcover volume number that was the first to feature colour pages inside.
Then multiply by the number of Saga books released to date.

On the inside cover of The Hidden #3 will be “number X in a series” where X is the number of Usagi issues to date. Subtract the number you have calculated away from X. With this new number, open the Dark Horse issue this corresponds to, and PM me the phrase in the very last speech bubble of the issue.

Good luck!

Although I've not had any entries yet, have I made it too difficult?

I think it is a brilliant question. I just must be wrong on one of my numbers in the math problem.
I keep getting a negative number so obviously I have done something wrong. The total must be smaller than The Hidden part 3 number in order to reach a positive number and so far I haven't gotten that.
Are you counting TMNT/Usagi variants to include the HC collected variant covers also or just the standard comics?

ALL variants! This includes the ones only available through Stan, and hardcovers, and regular and extended editions. EVERYTHING! ;)

Just to note, the answer you gave was incorrect Trevis, but seeing as I figured it might be a little tricky, I'm not imposing any one guess only rule heh...

Ok, I'm on it. I had figured the math problem with only the standard comic variants and not the HC's.
I'll get another guess to you later today :D

Okay, so we had two correct answers in the end...

Take the number of individual different variant releases for the TMNT/Usagi story Namazu: 13

Subtract from this the Fantagraphics issue number of the first time Usagi met a Ninja Turtle: 13 - 10 = 3

Multiply by the hardcover volume number that was the first to feature colour pages inside: 3 x 4 = 12

Then multiply by the number of Saga books released to date: 12 x 8 = 96

On the inside cover of The Hidden #3 will be “number X in a series” where X is the number of Usagi issues to date.
Subtract the number you have calculated away from X: 234 - 96 = 138

With this new number, open the Dark Horse issue this corresponds to, and PM me the phrase in the very last speech bubble of the issue.
"An honorable death"

And with that, the two lucky contestants are... Trevis Woods and Steve Hubbell!

Upon flipping a coin in the most scientific way possible, the winner is... TREVIS WOODS! :)
