Stan has said in many interviews that he loved watching samurai movies in Hawaii as a kid. And in addition to watching these movies for entertainment, he enjoyed watching how movies were put together. This analysis of how movies are put together, the choices director and editors make, have influenced how Stan tells Usagi Stories.
How much money did it cost for Stan to go to the movie theatre as a child in Hawaii. Bonus question: What was the name of the movie theatre Stan went to? PM me the answer and a random drawing of the correct answers will provide a winner for this week's bragging rights and enter you into the February/March Usagi Yojimbo Dojo trivia prize package. Here's the link to the Free and signed prizes (worth over $100 US by my estimates): http://www.usagiyojimbo.com/forum3/view ... =12&t=8633

MrMikeyRyan, good question. For questions like this, I based them off of interviews Stan has given in magazines, blogs, videos, or podcasts. Stan has told this story on several interviews in the past. But I most recently remembered this story in Stan's SDCF interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9& ... DHMYDZHRtE

The answers to this week's contest were all mentioned in a recent interview that Stan had done.
I think it was older than a recent interview because I remembered the answers from the interview sections in the hardcover collection of the Fantagraphics run. Treasure trove of Stan lore, it is!

The subject has been mentioned frequently over the years but it was also discussed in the Culture Chat with Mimi Chan interview this past month.

Great, thank you all for the info. I figured it was something like that, I just needed confirmation. I'm sure Mr. Sakai would love a bunch of PM's, but i'm sure he could live without them too
