Six degrees of separation from Stan Sakai

Post by Maka »

Dear UYDers,

I don't know if this fits here but I'll put it here anyways. I was thinking a fun game for us to play on the UY Dojo would be telling stories of cartoonists, writers, or artist, or comics that you have enjoyed (hopefully) as a result of six degrees of separation (or less) to Stan Sakai. The only rules are:

1) Post the story here in this thread.
2) One story per reply to this post.
3) You have to show the connection path to Stan to the comics/graphic novel.

Here's an example:

I recently won this Stray Dog Dog Days #1 variant from Skottie Young during his first livestream on YouTube:

The connection to Stan:

During the CAPS auction for Sharon and Stan, Tone Rodriguez was collecting donations for CAPS to auction off.

I contacted Tone and asked if I could drop off my donations (I donated the set of Roku Toy Statues, an original Usagi water color from Stan that I bought on eBay that was professionally framed, and a bunch of UY action figures MOC. I didn't want to mail them.

Tone emailed me his studio address, which also happened to be in the backyard of his home.

When my family got to his address, Tone gave us a cool tour of his studio.

Tone shared the studio with Tony Fleecs, who was working on a page of My Little Pony for IDW that day.

Tony Fleecs writes Stray Dogs and Tone does the layouts for the comic.

Have fun with it. Be as detailed or simple as you want. I hope this is fun for you as it is me. Look forward to hearing your stories.

Peace, maka
