Weekly Trivia Challenge: March 9-16

Post by Maka »

Dear UYDers,

For this week, I have an easy question and a difficult set of questions. We will congratulate winners for both the easy and the more difficult questions.

Stan has allowed Sergio to ink one Usagi Story.
And one lucky fan also has inked a part of a panel in an Usagi Yojimbo issue.

Trivia questions:

Easy question: Which issue/story did Sergio ink?
Difficult questions: Which issue did the fan ink (story name or issue number). And what was the name of that fan?
Bonus bragging rights: What part of a panel did they ink?

Hint: The answers can be found in this dojo forum.

PM me your answers. Hopefully, you will PM me before I have to go look it up myself.

Stan: I know from interviews you said you used to pay your children per page to erase the pencils. Did you ever let your children ink any of your artwork?

Have great week ya'll. Peace, maka

The difficult question was actually the easier one (for me).

I don't remember which issue Sergio inked. I'll have to look that one up.

Ah, answers are pouring into my PM box. Lots of good answers. :)

Mayhem has identified two more inkers that he is aware of. I trust his knowledge.

Bonus bragging rights if you can name the two other inkers and what issues they inked.

Peace, maka

PMed my answers.

I just wanted to say that Buck and UY Chan (and now Maka) had some great questions too, but I just didn't have the time lately to search for those particular answers.

But keep 'em coming fellow fans, these are fun! :D

IIRC there was a contest run by Stan back in 2001 to identify the mystery panel in an issue that was inked by someone else. I now realise (having done a quick Google on the name I remembered), that it was not a fan, but someone that Stan knew from his Trilogy tour. Thus technically I didn't answer the contest question

At least I answered Maka's question about whether Matthew or Hannah had ever helped out

Right, I think I recall which person from the Dojo here did the inking that the true answer warrants, but I need to try and dig deeper to confirm if I'm right heh...

I regret that I am not a very good student of Usagi Yojimb lore  ... so I don't know the 'easy' answer, but I do recall the 'difficult' question as being discussed before....

Mayhem, dig and ye shall find it.

Edit.... Ah-ha! Found the answer to the first question. I think I can honestly say, I didn't know that! Or, if I did know, I forgot....

Sooooooooo: Any winners???

I have no idea of the answers but I am curious to see!

I also will be out of town and possibly out of internet for the next week so I will try to see if someone has posted a question for this week when I return this upcoming Saturday.

Happy Usagi'ing All!

Here are our winners:

Easier question: Mayhem was the first to answer with Sergio inked part of the Return to Adachigahara story (Vol 3, issue 10). Usagi-Yojimbo, Jubei, Steve Hubbell also got this right
Difficult question: Gaffey was first to respond with Fanfan inked the rock on page 3/panel 1 in issue 143 (the little FF) Shoya story. Usagi-Yojimbo, Jubei, Steve Hubbell also got this right

For some reason the difficult question was easier to answer (was it my hint or do people just have good memories?).

No one chimed in on Mayhem also reported other inkers. But according to Mayhem -
-Linda Medley inked panel 4 of page 6 in DH issue #45 (chapter 6 of Grasscutter 2).
-Hannah (Sakai) helped ink DH issue #75 btw
----

I don't know who submits the next trivia question. I say Gaffey. Are you up to the challenge of writing a trivia question? ;)

----

On a happy side note, Stan mentioned at the LBCC that his family recently celebrated his granddaughter's 1 year old birthday this month. Happy birthday (I forgot the name of his granddaughter) to her and the whole family.

Peace, maka

I assumed your hint was in the question itself. Was that done on purpose?

Which issue did the FAN ink (story name or issue number). And what was the name of that FAN? = FANFAN!

If Mayhem doesn't have one I could think of something.
No one chimed in on Mayhem also reported other inkers. But according to Mayhem -
-Linda Medley inked panel 4 of page 6 in DH issue #45 (chapter 6 of Grasscutter 2).
-Hannah (Sakai) helped ink DH issue #75 btw
Has this been discussed before or is it Superfan knowledge?

I did gave the hint on purpose. I thought it would be hard for new dojo members to find otherwise. I didn't want my question to be an exercise of frustration. :)

I don't remember the Linda Medley inking. The Hannah inking sounds familiar to me but I didn't remember it. I would say that is Superfan knowledge.

Here's the page on the Dojo about the 2001 contest: http://www.usagiyojimbo.com/other/uydic.html

I remembered Stan mentioning Hannah had helped inked issue #75, I think he might have posted on the forum about it.
