Weekly Trivia challenge June 15th-21st

Oh the pressure...had I known that I was responsible for the next week's question when entering last week I may have chickened out and not hit the submit button!

I just attended my first con in Kansas City this past March and discovered that blank sketch covers are a pretty big deal to have with you for your favorite artist to create something rare and unique. I met Stan for the first time and also met Skottie Young. This gave me an idea which unfortunately I was unable to act on due to my pre planned budget. So, this week's question is in two parts:

If Darkhorse put out an Usagi Yojimbo blank sketch cover:
1. What artist would you have sketch this new cover?
2. What other character would be on the cover with Usagi?
*bonus points if you have an awesome scene in mind for both characters to be drawn into.

For example I would love to have a sketch cover of Usagi and Rocket Raccoon by Skottie Young fighting back to back in the center of the cover while a huge number of tentacles are reaching in from both sides of the cover.
The only rules are that you can't pick Stan to sketch his own cover and it can only be one other character with Usagi.

No right answers just awesome and unique cover ideas. Enter as many times as you want.
Winner gets bragging rights for an awesome idea and hopefully inspires somebody here to make this happen at a future comic con.

As an aside, I asked Stan at WonderCon in April if he had ever considered releasing an issue of Usagi with a blank sketch cover. He said "no" he hadn't, but I hope it'll be considered in the future, as I enjoy seeing all the different artists' renditions on sketch covers, and have even commissioned a few covers myself.

This is a very interesting challenge!
I would love to see a cover drawn by Tonci Zonjic with Usagi and Lobster Johnson surrounded by Ninja. I would also like to see a cover by Mike Mignola of Usagi and Hellboy fighting (that would be a very interesting fight).
I'm not sure who would draw it (maybe Tonci Zonjic for this one too; he is one of my all-time favorite artists), but I would love a cover showing a team up between Usagi and the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Captain America (my favorite version of Cap). Maybe Cap could be fighting Jei while Usagi fights the Winter Soldier?

I would ask for Sasuke the Demon Queller (Usagi Yojimbo) and Meru (Mind MGMT). I would love to have them face-off with each other in some swamp on fire with Yokai and demons everywhere. I would love to see Matt's wonderful watercolors on all those demons.

Artist: Adrian Alphona

I would love to see Ame Tomoe and Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel). Kamala would be all plastic man like and Tomoe would just be amused.

But if it has to be Usagi as the character then . . .

Artist: Gene Luen Yang

Usagi and The Monkey King. Usagi would be overwhelmed by a bunch of ninjas and the Monkey King would be meditating in the center of all the action, not disturbed in the least.

I've got pretty much something original by all the major TMNT Mirage artists over the years... except Peter Laird. He is also, unsurprisingly, the only major Mirage TMNT personage I haven't met yet either. So for a sketch cover, it would be Leo and Usagi drawn by Laird doing something... ninja-ish heh.

1. I would have Chris Samnee draw a picture of Usagi. While he does not draw Usagi very well in my opinion, than it would be awesome to get a drawing by him.
2. I would have Thor in the drawing, too. Samnee draws the best Thor that I know of. I wouldn't have them fighting, though, because no offense to Usagi, but Thor is a god...

1: The late Goseki Kojima of Lone Wolf & Cub fame

2: Daigoro

Bonus: Daigoro and Usagi defending a wounded Itto Ogami from hordes of Yagyu agents.....

Something like this would be cool also....

Does it have to be PG rated???

I just LOVE Kim Jung Gi's art although it can head seriously R rated in the blink of an eye.

But still, give me a cover by him of Chizu and Tomoe fighting while Usagi is trying to stop them. Now THAT could be interesting!

Have you seen Kim Jung Gi's work? I bet that the one you posted would not be even a bit close to what he would do! Different universe altogether. Not better, not worse, just ... different.

So, my trivia answer (nowhere near as cool)...

I've recently become re-interested in the works of Tony DiTerlizzi dating back to his days illustrating for the AD&D universe (his new book just came out REALMS)

Artist: Tony DiTerlizzi

Characters: Usagi & Tomoe (or Gen, or Chizu, or...)

Scene: Usagi and Tomoe up againt a hoard of Kobolds, or some other fantastic creatures from Tony's AD&D portfolio.

Second runners-up would be a cover from Sergio Aragones (with Groo) or David Petersen (with some Mouseguards).
