By "cover" I presume you mean variant here, and by variant, do you mean entirely different cover design, or one that wasn't 100% the same as the other one?

Dear Readers,
Thank you Mayhem for your clarification request.
'By "cover" I presume you mean variant here, and by variant," '
Yes, variant ( "a form or version of something that differs in some respect from other forms of the same thing or from a standard.") is correct.
"do you mean entirely different cover design, or one that wasn't 100% the same as the other one?"
Clues so soon?

Dear Readers,
No correct answers yet.
Our Taisho, Steve Hubble did give this excellent answer:
"The purpose of the first comic book starring Usagi Yojimbo
with two covers was the same as all the comic books starring Usagi Yojimbo with single covers,
for comic book readers of uncommonly good taste to read and enjoy."
There is a third thing we comic book readers do with our comic books...
Best wishes to all,

Dear Readers,
I think you might enjoy some of the conversation going on behind the scenes of this contest question.
Here is some of my response to Steve's excellent logic:
Best wishes to all.

"Dear Steve,
The more you uncover the more i think we need a section of the Dojo for variant info.

"Usagi Yojimbo v.1 #1 - possibly marked "second printing" on the inside cover to distinguish it from the first printing?"
No, the variant in question was made with a purpose in mind....

"Or, if you just mean a comic book series which Usagi has appeared in, but not necessarily in the issue in question...."
No, the variant in question is a Usagi Yojimbo comic.....

"Albedo v.1 #1 with its dark red and bright red covers to distinguish first batch and second batch of covers printed. Of course, those could have been accidental, or on purpose."
No, i think you answered your own question here...

As always i am impressed by the depth of your Usagi knowledge.
Thank you for trying.
Best wishes,
go"

These are all things I had considered as well, prior to making both of my (incorrect) guesses so far. If it's stumping even Steve, then the answer is either something neither of us has somehow considered, or the answer is incorrect heh.

Dear Readers,
Even though Steve Hubbell is our first winner, there is still time for you to enter the contest.

One of our members asks:
"Since Steve figured it out does that mean there will be no hints?
I'm starting to think it isn't an Usagi comic at all."

I will be posting pictures of this Usagi Yojimbo comic as soon as the game is over.

So here are 3 more clues....
I had to buy mine through the snail mail at the time it was made available.
I found out about it in an advertisement in a UY comic.
I also used it the way it was meant to be used.

Best wishes to all!

ps. congratulations to Steve for trying so many times until he succeeded, like Edison!

This puts me in a bit of a bind since I don't save my comics. I'll have to do some web surfing tomorrow.

Do you mind if I put my incorrect answers here? Save some people some time.
