There have been so many artists doing original work for the CAPS auction to benefit Sharon's medical expenses, I felt I should do something new as well.
Here is a step-by-step of it. Pen and ink, watercolor, and tuscan red pencil on 4-ply 500 series Strathmore cold press bristol.
Rough pencils, using basic shapes with a 2H mechanical pencil.
Tighten up the pencils with a hb lead.
Foreground inked with a Koh-i-noor Art Pen and Badger Black Opaque ink (old formula).
I masked the foreground and borders, and splashed some green at the top.
Overlaid the background, then removed the foreground mask.
Working on the overall drawing with some turquoise.
Adding warmth.
Adding more grays, and removed the mask over my signature and colored the box.
Used tuscan red pencil for dino details.
Removed the border mask, and it is finished.

Re: CAPS Benefit Auction piece step-by-step
wow!that is incredible, sensei!!
one can see now why you once stated that you love to draw dinosaurs(in an interview about space usagi)...great step by step description, thank you so much for these!I soak them up like a vacuum cleaner some fluids on the kitchen floor;)really great way to learn here!
thank you for that!
I must say between the 'add warmth' and the next step ' adding more greys...' I was feverishly scrolling up and down comparing usagi and the dinosaur like a madman cause I wanted to follow each individual step ;)hahahaha
